Yes, they are weightless. A G-meter show 0 G in that situation. You are weightless when no other force than gravity affects you. And the range of gravity is infinite, also in the International Space Station you are just falling (gravity there is only 13% weaker than down here)

Einstein already analyze this. You can't distinguish free fall from perfect space weightlessness. If you're in space into a spacecraft with no thrusting and without rotating you cannot know if you're moving in a straight line with zero acceleration or if you are accelerating under some gravitation field. The only thing to know your trajectory is a reference to a celestial object with known position and trajectory.

Well, there is no place in the universe without gravity. And it is impossible to distinguish why there are "no G-forces". So I don't see the problem here. The main problem instead is, that many people think that there is no gravity in space.

Zero Gravity Flights: A Journey into Weightlessness Zero gravity flights, also known as parabolic flights, offer a unique experience of weightlessness. This is achieved through a carefully orchestrated flight pattern that simulates the conditions of space. The flight begins with a specially modified aircraft, typically a Boeing 727 or Airbus A310, taking off and reaching a safe altitude. At this point, the plane enters a parabolic trajectory, a series of steep climbs and dives that mimic the arc of a parabola. During this maneuver, three pilots work in unison to control the aircraft's movements. One pilot manages the plane's pitch, another controls its roll, and the third handles the engine speed. This coordinated effort ensures a smooth and safe flight path. As the plane ascends, it accelerates to a peak speed of 426 miles per hour. This rapid climb subjects passengers to a gravitational force 1.8 times greater than what they experience on the ground, lasting for approximately 20 seconds. This period of increased gravity, known as "hypergravity," is followed by a brief moment of weightlessness as the plane enters a freefall. This weightless period, lasting about 20-25 seconds, allows passengers to experience the sensation of floating freely, similar to what astronauts experience in space. During this time, they can perform various activities, such as jumping, tumbling, and even floating in mid-air. After the weightless phase, the plane enters the "pull-out" phase, gradually returning to a more conventional horizontal flight path. This process is repeated multiple times throughout the flight, providing passengers with several opportunities to experience weightlessness. In conclusion, zero gravity flights offer a thrilling and unique experience, allowing individuals to briefly escape the confines of Earth's gravity and experience the sensation of weightlessness. The carefully controlled flight pattern, combined with the expertise of the pilots, ensures a safe and memorable journey into the realm of zero gravity.

@nos97842 жыл бұрын
Yes, but also starting with a lot of upwards momentum- meaning douple the time weightless. Weightlessness is just freefall, and freefall does not care how fast or what direction you were moving at the beginning. You care, though, because most of us care about missing the ground while moving fast. If you move sideways fast enough, you'll keep missing the ground. We call that an orbit :)
@YairTHR Жыл бұрын
NO! On freefall you are subjected ONLY to gravity while on skydiving you are subjected to air resistance. As you accelerate, the air resistance becomes equal to the gravitational force. This happens within a few seconds. So there's no longer a feeling of wheightlessness. Only at the very beginning of the dive. After that, skydiving feels like swimming in air.

20 seconds because you cannot let the plane free fall forever as there are altitude restrictions for a plane also you cannot come dangerously close to the ground . sharp nose is actually what it performs by the way 50degree nose downs which very steep and we can climb slowly but it will consume a lot of time and fuel to regain all the altitude lost on the freefall

Two main differences: 1. on the 0G plane, you are only approximately in 0 G. There’s no calm floating in the middle of the cabin, everybody’s bouncing around because the airplane is not describing a perfect parabola due to the air around it not being perfectly still. 2. On the ISS, astronauts use a no-rinse shampoo that has a different effect on the hair than conventional shampoo/conditioners.

Every airplane leaves the ground, so the earth. Are you talking about "leaving the atmosphere"? Not possible with an airplane. However, the atmosphere becomes thinner fluently, it is impossible to say where it ends so when you actually have left it. And it has absolutly nothing to do with gravity. People in the International Space Station are floating for the same reason why they float here. This is not a "simulation" of the weightlessness that an astronaut experiences. It is the exact same effect.

"“without ever having to leave Earth” So airplanes don’t leave Earth? Really?" Yes, that is dumb to say. It supports the wrong image that many people have about space, so that it is something special up there. When some flat earther /NASA denier/... says "Nobody have ever left the earth, "It is not zero gravity, and the people are not weightless." Well, we could discuss about the "zero gravity". I think it is fine to use it - or we should not use it at all, because they is no point in the universe without gravity. But they are weightless. Or what is weightlessness according to you?
