KZbin randomly decided to recommend me this video pretty much as soon as soon as it was published. I'm glad it did. It's a neat explainer, easy to follow and somewhat in-depth (though going more in-depth than that would've served little purpose).

That's a wonderful job. Thank you for investing your time in producing this video. It is extremely important for us, melodica lovers. I also really liked the music. I loved it when during the questions the chord gained dissonant notes (a dominant chord). I also liked the use of the keyboard sound, which I usually adopt in my compositions as well. I would like to contribute by making the subtitles in Portuguese, what do you think? We already communicated via email once, I think we can continue this conversation there. Congrats!!

wowwwww????!! this video is so flipping good !! i love the melodica and i always love learning about science and the acoustics of instruments. this communicates how it works really well. i learned more than i expected from this. physics class right now is about fluid dynamics and this vid made me understand the bernoulli effect a lil better. and it is also fun to watch, the visuals are really really really good. also love how theres melodica music in the background. amazing

Very good video! I am thinking it must be a similar effect with the jews harp. Maybe the principle of the thickness of the tongue in relation to the opening plays the same role.

Nice! Veary nice. Great job. I actually started by playing harmonica, where the principal is related to reeds as well. Hopefully I broke enough of harmonicas, to take good care of my melodica now! 😅

So reed instruments are not idiophones cause the sound doesn’t come from the vibration of the reed itself but from the modified air flow provoked by the reed movement. In the H.S. Classification they are classified correctly but i read somewhere else that reeds are also idiophones. Then there’s the mistery of Aeolsklavier and Piano Chanteur where they are classified as blown idiophones but are thought to be predecessors of Harmonium (which is the bigger size Melodica) and here we got the confirmation that they should be aerophones.

I've got a random melodica question and nowhere to ask it, so I'll ask it here. Do you know if anyone has ever tried to valve a melodicas the way chromatic harmonicas use valves (aka windsavers)? Obviously it isn't necessary on a melodica, but I do like the distanct sound that windsavers give chromatic harmonicas, so I'm wondering if in theory I could add some to ky melodica and alter the sound
