Neurofeedback started as early as the 1960's when researcher Joe Kamiya experimented with the Alpha activity (8-12 Hz) in the human brain. The results, which were very promising, inspired many other new experiments. Nowadays the fact that humans can learn to alter their brain function, by using an EEG, is virtually undisputed.
This video is an example of a neurofeedback session. Former patient Tax receives a therapy session as a treatment to ADHD. He, his father and his therapists comment on how this treatment can be beneficial to ADHD/ADD patients. the complete video on neurofeedback as a treatment to ADHD/ADD can be found on • New Focus on ADHD/ADD:... .

I first learned of this treatment in a drug treatment center. I had walked by a room where a friend I had made in the rehab was connected to some machine. I later asked what it was, he explained and I was confused at first. It wasn’t until years later when I discovered more addicts had used this form of treatment. I’ve never really heard anything negative about this therapy. I’m excited to lear more.

The video does a great job of incorporating testimonial material with the NFT technology while giving it credibility with the therapist credentials and the fathers witnessing of the changings. Excellent job at profiling the benefits of Neurofeedback training.

It annoys me how this treatment isn't recommended by most doctors. The current medical paradigm is a joke. It seems like whenever you go to the doctor for treatment all they can offer you is drugs... I wonder why? Because it makes money for the pharmaceutical companies. Anything remotely holistic or traditional is deemed "alternative medicine". For me, the current medical establishment is alternative.

For some people, medication is necessary for functioning. We are still learning about what works best for people. Don't hate medication and medical professionals because it's popular to do.

I’m curious how biofeedback and neurofeedback would combine with microdosing. Would there be magnified benefits or no difference at all.

As with all things, be careful and do research. It is not without side effects. I get terrible headaches and anxiety with nausea after mine.

insurance does cover it depending on who you have. i have ADHD and ive been taking medication since i was 6. im tired of feeling not myself. I have not developed as the person that i should be. I fee like an adult but in a 16 year old body. i am considering trying this for myself. no matter what I need to do, if this can work then i will do it and prove that it does. I am curently studying psychology to become a neuropsychologist.

3:37 The way i see it is that we all need every wavelength but if say an adhd person can't get enough theta wave then when he is trying to relax for sleep he will jump down from beta to alpha but when he reaches theta he will feel ill at ease so he either gets up again because he cant sleep and tries to exhaust himself by reading watching tv or playing a computer game or he may just wait till he crashes with delta to go for deep sleep but if the period of hanging around in inefficient theta for too long the person will feel ill at ease and that's why they like stimulation because they feel more at home in a eta state with more things functioning and thriving. or goes the other way and takes sleeping pills and tranquilizers to synthetically mimic theta so he can better transition to delta and sleep. Adhd peopel could have overactive beta and underactive theta.

I'm so confused.... I just started neurofeedback and all they have me doing is watching The Office as the wires are connected to me head... I watch for 45 minutes as the screen becomes smaller, lights flash, etc... I never see my brain waves... the tech comes in every 10 minutes or so the check on me. I asked, "all I have to do is watch this show? I dont do anything else? I'm confused, I thought I need to be learning how to train my brain.." she said all I need to do is watch the show. It is free and paid for by my insurance, so I'm not paying anything out of pocket... but I'm concerned they arent doing it right. I had an hour interview with the pyschologist and she apparently is the one that crafted my "program" that the tech implements.. are there simply different ways of doing this?

Since neruofeedback requires many sessions, it will cost you a lot of money, in the thousands of $$$.

Do people realize the implications of the "success" achieved from this? You are basically training a person's feelings to react to noise. From a security perspective this is a nightmare because after achieving success, someone else can just use the same stimuli to ruin that person's life. Getting up on stage to give a speech? Let's play that same noise.

@@IntotheWildscape Conditioning is certainly not without its issues. I have been suffering from a speaker implant in a similar manner where correlating signals induce stress and I doubt people consider the long term implications of constant suggestion properly. Without proper consent it can be a nightmare, a child may come to regret it similarly. Our subconscious minds are susceptible to suggestion especially when making seemingly random choices. To methodically invade that process certainly should involve consent of all parties and simply should not be done in my personal opinion.
