A rupture disk is a pressure relief device that works like a fuse in an electrical circuit When the pressure in a system exceeds a predetermined level, the disk ruptures at a predetermined point, allowing the pressure to be safely released and protecting equipment and personnel. The pressure release is directed to a safe location via a rupture vent or outlet pipe. Disc release time is very short.
