I have a question - does the conductivity of the closed circuit affect how much current would ultimately be drawn from the battery with the way that induction and coils work? In other words, does a fence with a closed circuit draw the same amount of power as a fence with nothing touching, or does a closed circuit drain the battery faster than an open or mostly open circuit? Where does the pulse “go” when there is no animal touching the wires (when the circuit is not completed) - would it be going through the “best” path through a bad insulator, vegetation, etc to get to the ground? TIA. Your help would settle some questions me and some co-workers have.

Use rubber shoes when touching the live wire, you are insulated against ground.
