My husband fries turkeys very well. He actually puts frozen turkey in empty pot then fills water to where to designated fill line. He then takes out turkey and marks where water/oil line is for this turkey. This now shows how much oil and rarely boils over. Best cooking.

Those red geraniums are so beautiful. Where I work (dry cleaners) I have a hugh picture window like Andrews has and it is filled with them. They used to go out in the owners' mothers yard but she passed away a few yrs ago and I have been keeping them alive since. They're holding up really well. I baby them for sure.

5:55 Aaron if you want a moist and tasty Turkey you need to soak it in a brine first. We smoke ours but it process would be the same. We use a food safe plastic 5 gallon bucket. Fill it halfway with water and put 2 1/2 cups of kosher salt 2 1/2 cups of brown sugar and you let it soak for several hours or overnight fully submerged in the brine. Seeing that you are deep frying, be sure to remove the excess water inside and out of the bird. ENJOY!🦃🦃🦃

I’m happy you’re on the mend. It’s not fun being taken down by the flu, cold or Covid, which is still out there. I just got over a respiratory cold. Then I saw that RSV hits many at my age. Maybe that was it. We miss you though when you’re not showing up everyday but we’re heading into winter so things do slow down. Take care❤

COVID is endemic, it will never go away. It will always be "out there". There will never be "zero COVID". I wish our medical community and government would educate people about this. It is here like thousands of other viruses. It will continue to change and weaken over time like all others.

Dahlias here in zone 10b, So Cal foothills, similar to Oakland, CA. My limited experience with one variety was to cut back foliage as you see fit - wilted and spent leaves, just like deadheading- leave the tubers in the ground and they'll grow back in the spring. good luck!

The grower I met in Santa Cruz did dig all their dahlia tubers up every fall. They made it a teaching day for many people to come and learn. They were zone 9b.

Aaron reminds me of my husband at times. Unless I'm very very clear about how sick I am or tired I am he has no idea. It is sweet that he said he didn't realize how sick Laura was... I loved the lights!!!! I remember a coment last year someone said you were tacky , you read it on the recap. I say if it makes you happy do it!!! Is for your you and your kids . I've never really decorated outside for xmas we live in a most elderly community and we did last year and now they expect us to do it bigger lol. Aaron, invest in a good wireless blutooth meat thermometer. Oil temp is nice (we found 325 works best) but internal turkey meat temp is essential and usually shows your bird is done before you can tell from the skin. The blutooth hooks right to your phone and will alarm when you reach the predetermined temp. Once you master the frying, you'll find you cooking all sorts of things outside. We crab and shrimp boils, fried fish, chicken and of course turkey. Cheers, mate. Enjoy. PS - Glad y'all are feeling better. The fall cold seems to be making the rounds. I was thinking of a storage idea for the hose links… You could attach a 4x6 to the wall of the barn, running horizontal and with the 4” side up. Drill holes the size of the attachment pipe on the hose link, and line them up. They would look like hoselink soldiers all lined up, neat and tidy. 🥳🥳

Laura, so glad you guys are feeling better! Aaron, we fried our turkey for years with hit or miss results. Couple of years ago we got the Big Easy infared turkey fryer. Look into it...turkey comes out perfect and no oil mishaps or expense.

Regarding crates for Dalias, you can purchase a plastic clothes basket at the $1 store, line it with burlap, and store with vermiculite,… I haven’t done it myself but I have seen it done for growing mushrooms 🍄🍄🍄👍🏼

Thanks for reading my question about dalia tuber storage. I ended up buying a large plastic bin at Dollar tree that had lots of large holes then I drilled more in the bottom & lined it with screening. I covered the tubers with vermiculite & perlite. I'm going to store them in my bulkhead, it's the only place I think might be the right temp range. This is my first try at this, wish me luck.
