That stuff is great. It has the consistency of fresh construction adhesive(the PL polyurethane stuff) Super high viscosity along with a bit of elastomeric properties.

+mrtoady2 have you used it? This was a first look for a guy on sol. Gonna pack it in some bearings. Also Going to see how it reacts if I thin it out with some cx oil. If it still retains its tackyness it could prove very useful in fw reels. Either way I like it's properties. One of its uses is for underwater bearings in saltwater

Your video is the first time I have ever seen it. I was surprised at the properties it exhibited. Was just remarking about it.

@Tackle Advisors Just love your content, would you mind doing a review of the oil and grease that you use? would be nice if you could cover ball bearings, carbontex drags, gear grease (what parts you grease) and which part you oil (type of oil) thank you!

Aqua Shield has many marine applications, once applied, that's it! Used it in the offshore oil field industry for years.

Could we get an update on this? I'm getting into cleaning my own reels and while penn's grease has been solid for me so far, this stuff seems great and I'm thinking about buying a tube after watching this video. Thanks!

Man, lots of lube questions here but I hope people realize you're not (yet) using this on gears or bearings! I service probably 100 reels a year or so, mainly friends and friends of friends type deal, and I get asked what grease and oil to use all the time. I tell them one that's made for fishing reels because if I don't they go to a hardware store or automotive store and buy some crazy axle grease type stuff. Personally, depends on the reel and the usage. CorrossionX is a winner in my book for most applications as it just stays out.

Not sure I want to deal with that mess! I did a test over the last week of 10 reel greases I have. Took some time but I put the same exact amount (from a syringe type thing) on a main gear and pinion gear in a baitcaster and turned the handle 200 times. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them turned a little darker and built up on the base of the pinion gear! The gears were still lubricated but that build up drives me nuts since I use very little grease. I bought corrosion x and this aqua shield goo and will be repeating the process maybe they’ll stay better! My father is a dentist so I used his ultra sonic between each grease as to create a fair playing field!
@jeffsmith8958
@jeffsmith8958 5 жыл бұрын
Btw the supposed “winner” of my test was both hot sauce and cals tan which still built up but didn’t change color as dramatically. Penn blue grease was penn black grease after 200 turns of the handle.
@jeffsmith8958
@jeffsmith8958 5 жыл бұрын
So corrosion x grease won the stay in place and maintain integrity contest. Aqua shield is not for baitcasters in my opinion. It stayed in place but the reel became very sluggish. I’ll be using corrosion x grease on all my SW gear going forward. I have a 1lb tub of cals that will now be drag specific and corrosion x will be gears and seals.

Wow...haven't seen you here in awhile buddy!!! I tried it on an idler gear on a metanium dc. Very interesting stuff. It's like that motoro oil demonstration at the counter of automotive stores. It pulls itself along instead of just leaving that clump of grease that once it's squeezed out. does nothing but take up space. Gonna try it on gearing in over the next few days.

oooooooffff.............that's painful to see. 80 bucks too!! I'd bet my left foot that it would fit nicely as a 4th player in the frankenreel video I put out earlier in the year. Junk junk junk At 80$ you can get a fuego ct which is a real baitcaster that is worth keeping around and will last if you are new and growing into baitcasting goo.gl/Fwcy3m And for 10$ more you can get a tatula. goo.gl/gz1Dhz To me that says quite a bit about the guy putting his name on a piece of junk and selling it for twice the price as the other pieces of junk. Even if the 80$ version had titanium gears and 100% SiNi bearings. It's still be an absolute piece of plastic junk with an awful braking system.

I have been using this cheap stuff called “real magic” to clean the insides of reels recently and somehow it’s excellent. I’m kinda nutty though when I service my reels I tear them down completely and really clean everything, let it dry for a few hours then I use either tan or purple cals. People don’t use it for gears I guess but it’s worked better than the others I’ve used on everything! Pricey though.

How fluid with this Aquashield be in cold temperatures?
@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 6 жыл бұрын
It will thicken up like pretty much every other grease out there. There isn't a grease that i've used and i've used a ton that doesn't thicken up when cold. But if you grease lightly and only have it run on a film it really doesn't matter much.

Not sure what you mean?
@i.o.3563
@i.o.3563 6 жыл бұрын
))joking. I was referring to using grease not meant for reels, it's crazy sticky. And this shovel to put it on))) instead of a little paint brush. Putting so much under the handle may cause it penetrate into ball bearing and make rotating harder. Yes, I understand the protection, but this is really overkill. I just can't get this approach. Do you put any cheap oil into your car? Maybe its' a better idea to use Daiwa's grease? Or other intended for that purpose.
@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 6 жыл бұрын
Gotcha :) Oh and it will most definitely make rotation harder and make the reel more sluggish and tight feeling. But if fishing in the surf. Using a reel without any seals. IT WILL make it last much much longer than if not done this way. The ball bearings have been opened and packed with grease. So adding the grease on the outside is the least of the ball bearings worries :) I have daiwas grease and others. It's very thin. Good for freshwater light reels where I want a free and light spinning reel But other greases work just as well if not better. As long as they are applied properly. Once a reel runs in..The reel only runs on the film left behind. Daiwa and Office ZPI is pricey since they retail package and only sell tiny amounts. Similar items are often available for cheaper....ya just gotta experiment enough to find them. I'll take corrosion x and yamalube over shimano grease any day. And TSI 321 or Corrosion x oil over their oil as well. I'll even take tsi or tungsten disulfied over zpi or alchemy oil as well.
@i.o.3563
@i.o.3563 6 жыл бұрын
I've never fished in surf, but hate it already))) What do you mean by taking tungsten disulfied over zpi? You put it after applying oil on the top? Anyway there should be another solution. Maybe called Stella SW or Twin SW))))
@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 6 жыл бұрын
Tungsten disulfide in freshwater baitcasters instead of oil. I have stella sw's and saltigas had saragosa sw's and zeebass and vanstaal. Stellas will take splashes...but get crunchy with sand. Same as saragosas. But those are 100$ reels vs 500$ plus.
