I feel like Araki had to write D4C's ability out very simply so that it was understandable but i think I've figured out the actual physics behind it all. D4C's ability allows the user to hop to different dimensions by folding space around themselves (think the flag and wedging himself between objects). This folding of space interestingly also has a correlation to gravity which seems to be a recurring theme with some of the stands (Pucci's "gravity" and destiny). Not to mention that Gyro states that gravity can follow D4C wherever he goes even into love train. This means that D4C could be using the curving of spacetime (gravity) to enter higher dimensions to travel to alternate realities, and that when Lovetrain Is activated D4C's user can hide within the space between these higher dimensions, having these "unfavourable" occurrences deflected far away throughout spacetime to other parts of the earth. D4C is one of those stands that's pretty good on its own, but can be made amazing by its user. The Hand, for example, has an extremely powerful ability that could be used for almost anything, but Okuyasu doesn't have the intelligence to use it to its full power. Valentine, on the other hand, is a genius. He was able to make 3 people shoot Johnny at the same time without knowing using his ability. It was probably the most mind boggling sequence I've ever read in Jojo.

D4C is insane. Imagine DIO using road roller on Valentine, but Valentine uses the dimension hop through the road roller (for the sake of this to be a good theory, let's say that it would be possible even in the time stop), and after the time stop ends, he gets out from the road roller fully healed (like in the first fight with D4C used). DIO is so confused that he is unable to react at the Diego being used as a weapon, and you know what happens.

1:48 I heard of this concept from the movie Timecop (1994), where the laws of time travel dictate that two versions of the same matter cannot simultaneously occupy the same space and time because the molecules in the same form of matter constantly change. And just like D4C, if the same form of matter from different points in time touches each other, they melt away from existence.
