A lot is talked about high stakes poker, but when it comes to online cash games, we don't get to see much what is going on, and how the game plays when the blinds are so high.
In this video I react live to some hands played at $100/$200 on GG Poker, featuring one of the best players in the world, Linus Loeliger.

I'd love for you to break down some high stakes hands of your own, so you can break down your own thought process when we can see the cards you are playing, and then you can post the relevant ranges using GTO Wizard so we can understand what parts of your range you are using for value/bluffing etc. I think that would be super helpful and insightful! Loving the content man. Thanks so much.

In the 774 3bp bvb, I would assume Linus is also bluffing all his pocket pairs that got counterfeited, 9T, some 1 club hands. I would really struggle to believe he’s not over bluffing the spot
@Jimmyballsthe3rd
@Jimmyballsthe3rd 7 ай бұрын
Like from my perspective it’s clear as day he’s bluffing because I think he plays way too many raises on the flop v 1/3 against a weaker player, so I think his landing range is kinda ridiculous
@DoubleBassX2
@DoubleBassX2 7 ай бұрын
6:05 Is the bottom two pairs folding that much a function of the opponent's bluffs or something? Or does Kx just block _that_ much more value that our bottom two can comfortably fold here most of the time? Or maybe we just have enough 2x and 3x in this range that our opponent could then bluff even more when he holds 2x or 3x because our range depends so much on these cards?
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker 7 ай бұрын
Not sure why you got the idea that Kx blocks *that much* more value. Both hand classes - bottom 2 and naked Kx, are mixing calls there, which means they are equivalent in equity/blockers relative to IP's bluffing range. The purpose of the bluffcatching strategy is to make some region of IP's bluffs indifferent. So OOP has to fold with a certain frequency that makes bluffing same EV as checking for some region of hands in the IP's range. It turns out that the exact folding frequencies for each combo displayed for the OOP range is the strategy that produces indifference in the IP's bluffs. If you'd change the frequency of 32s to call a bit more and decreased the frequency of the Kx region, *even if the aggregated fold frequency stayed the same*, then some IP bluffs would no longer be indifferent, and then strategies are no longer at an equillibrium.

15:52 2.5x is a "very large sizing" to 4bet?
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, for sure. Optimal is probably like click or close to click, so he is going 6 bbs more than optimal. That makes a big difference to the odds he is laying himself with his 4bet bluffs and the odds he lays to Linus range

2:16 what are the main reasons for the IP Player to raise more of their range, if OOP fails to 3-bet less then optimal.
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker 7 ай бұрын
It's a well constructed 3bet range that forces indifference between raising and calling in many of the draws from the IP player's range. In other words, it's by 3betting properly that you can ensure your opponent won't make too much money by raising with his bluffs - because you can rebluff him if he tries. As soon as you don't rebluff him enough, then he can just get away with raising more. Some protection type hands will also benefit from this, as they can raise hoping to get folds from some hands that could outdraw them or bluff them later, without having to worry about facing resitance in the form of 3bets.

@@saulocostapoker tvm for this thorough explanation. These region wars, where one has to find parts in their range, to counter and defend are complex but also intriguing. The biggest challenge I run into: finding the right combos, grouping and or classifying them in the correct region, let alone randomizing them correctly. I think the only way is to create a strategy based on heuristics.
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker 7 ай бұрын
Yes! Heuristics are key for playing good strategies. If you study enough, patterns of range construction from the solver will become apparent, and then you'll be able to turn those patterns into easy to implement heuristics. Just keep studying and the heuristics will emerge effortlessly

Linus has not auto-reload activated and does not play a full stack, so he must be a fish right? Cause he is giving up EV for no reason... 🐳
@teeraw4575
@teeraw4575 7 ай бұрын
I was gonna comment the same thing asking why so many high stakes regs don’t use auto top up ( especially with a Rec at the table) but if you see someone in mid - low stakes not using it you can pretty much auto give them the fish tag .
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker 7 ай бұрын
One reason is to not increase variance unnecessarily against the other regs. A lot of HS regs only top up enough to cover the rec.
@thesneakingninja1
@thesneakingninja1 7 ай бұрын
The #1 reason is when there’s 2+ effective stacks, the shortest stacked player has the highest EV, as they are playing as if there’s only one effective stack. But yeah if you’re playing 3-handed with a recreational you’d want to auto top up. Perhaps at high stakes it’s good practice to not have auto top-up, and perhaps Saulo Costa is right and he’s trying to reduce variance playing against another crusher.
