I like how when Jimmy bought the pewter S15, the reasoning was 'I'll never have this chance again.' Fast forward, and he's proven himself wrong not just once, but twice. Huge come up.

200hp to the wheels can be done with these engines just I’ve had experience with these in improved production racing Itb’s, bigger CAMS and some head work with lighter forged pistons and rods It’s a hard fort 200hp to the wheels compared to the Honda guy’s but easier to achieve than the guys campaigning Toyota engines!
@naeemdalwai30182 жыл бұрын
have seen some high 200hp sr20s before cams do alot to these and also like most 4 cylinders higher revs work so well especially with the fuel available. Can remember when they used to have those touring car races also the primera would pull so hard down the back straights seen it gap a 320stw which was very close to 320hp if I am not mistaken

First thing I'd do upon receipt of a new import is new filters, new oil, new trans and diff fluid, and potentially new coolant. Check the battery, then check the ECU for any codes. I wouldn't want to hammer on a car by doing dyno pulls without at least checking the fluids and filters to make sure I'm not trying to pull sludge through the oil channels in the block.

One thing I think you are forgetting about with advancing the timing on a car this new with a stock ECU is that it probably has a knock sensor. They are known to be so overly sensitive that you can actually gain power by unplugging or unbolting them on a stock setup. You should try unplugging/unbolting it when you add timing and see if you get better gains.

If the cat is full of carbon deposit you should try Seafoam in the engine to break up some of that carbon deposit that's probably all over the valves and on top of the pistons. Most high-revving na cars build up a lot of carbon deposit. Best N/A Nissan motor is the SR20VE 200hp with NEO head.

Just giving it a genuine service will free up some ponies aswell. Like oil change, fuel filter. New plugs .
@mndlessdrwer2 жыл бұрын
Eventually, you guys will end up with a shop like that, where the shop itself ownes a bunch of in-progress random JDM cars. The only problem is that the idea is you're supposed to get them fixed up and then sell them on. It's the last part that a lot of youtube car guys struggle with a lot. But, yeah, the R34 chassis is one that would be hard to lose money on. Same with the 4th gen Supra, or the FD RX-7. Then you've got the Silvia that people just absolutely love. There's a lot of JDM cars the people absolutely love and, thus, they hold value exceptionally well. If you get a RWD Corolla that you want to get more power in, consider the 1UZ-FE engine salvaged out of the Lexus SC400 or LS400. It's a very nice aluminum block V8. I'd say, for the Autech Silvia, if you wanted to do anything to it, I'd see either if anybody makes a decent centrifugal supercharger that you can run on that engine, or a teeny little quick-spooling low-boost turbo. Maybe one of the twin-scroll models to improve low-end performance but kinda choke out at really high RPMs? I don't think I'd want to risk ruining such an excellent JDM classic by going too far and nuking the engine. It's too sweet an engine for that.
