How does OpenAI Sora actually work?

Absolutely - and I'm excited for the full suite of tools that will need to exist surrounding the model. Capabilities to extend and selectively edit video, provide annotations and commentary, etc. Also fusing it with traditional animation/editing techniques to give creators more control over what they actually make with it!

Do you believe that we have such crazy advanced tech that looks like as if it shouldnt even exist to begin with and is now a reality? I still can't believe that even after a few days since its videos were released

Yeah, and the crazy part is that it keeps accelerating - so the capabilities of this model will be used to train an even better one, and it doesn't stop with media. I think the big thing later this year will be meaningful progress on AI Agents - and we'll suddenly see a system that can do certain office jobs mostly unassisted. It will be an interesting debate over what AI systems should be able to do with/without explicit user approval

@@VoloBuilds Wow, imagine just one year from now, how far their simulator (sora) would go? who knows, now let's imagine 5 years down the road, if current pace of quick developments of the AI field continues then within 5 years we might end up having AI that would be so advanced in general that it would feel like it's taken from the far far future (so 5 years in AI field probably equal to like 20 years of technological advancment in other fields), we'll see what 2024 holds for AI developments, agents are a needed part of AGI, I hope they can achieve AGI soon enough with the help of it.

I'm genuinely curious - is there a particular part you believe is incorrect? I went through the official research blog post that they posted, defined various concepts that folks may not familiar with, and provided my perspective based on my experience with other AI models and implementations. I'm obviously not going into low level details as that is not public knowledge, but I felt this was still a helpful review of the published research post. Curious to hear if you have any additional insights.
