Thanks so much. I have a tall OCD about mutt watches not being perpetual calendar (or having batteries unless solar,our kinetic etc......ado I've ended yup with Adam eclectic collection) and I've seen these,many of them very handsome watches.....but I've not been able to find out exactly how they work till now, after a few weeks looking (the KZbin algorithm isn't what out once was...they see peperpetualt and watch and think...' Must be oyster perpetual he's looking for!....)Anyway off a nice one of these now i know the system.thanks a lot mate, fresh reallyhelped me out!

Hi thanks for this video, i have been looking at this watch online. I just wanted to know how many years or till what calendar year this system will work? Also once the day / date on the right is set will that work thru the year on its own without adjustment? Ie will it be able to detect the leap years and months like Feb with 28 days and adjust for that accordingly on its own or will it need to be reset? Thanks.

Firstly I would like to admit that this is my understanding of the complication and it may be wrong. Now to answer to your questions. I am not sure about how many years but technically since I don't see 3 digits on it, my guess is till 2099. Nope, the day and date will always work considering the month has 31 days. For other months you will have to adjust it. Since it is an automatic watch, on not wearing, you will have to adjust the time if it stops. I don't think it can detect anything. It's all about getting the year, month, day and date combination on the watch right.

@@techieshobbies9485 Thanks for you reply! About the watch being able to display the year till 2099 do you see this on your own watch? For eg can you currently see a year of 2022? The reason i ask is someone else who owned the watch stated that the years go from 1970- 1999. WOuld be super if you could check and confirm! Thanks

@@hoshner I can see 22 and 99. Although it was meant for the 1900s, I think we can still use it for 2000s if you try following what I did in the video

Ive been trying to get one of these for ages (wanted a green one)... And looks like i finally got it! 1 day ledt on ebay... 70gbp....which seems a huge bargain. Has the stainless bracelet too. Well.. Unless the seller decides to bump me and close the auction, because he didnt get enough money, well looks like it's mine. They do seem a bit over priced though, averaging around 160 plus gbp. Its not like they are rare at all, just havs this odd perpetual feature. well anyway, I've wanted one for ages, even if just to work out how the perpetual function works... And how they work past 2003, which is the newest one I've been able to find. I'm guessing you just need to set it using a calendar right? Anyway, interesting watch, and if i can snag it for 70 gbp... ALL THE BETTER! Thanks for video, however, i dont think they all work the same. Some have a rotating outer ring, with an extra crown.... And a couple of other versions.

Well.... Still in it... But others have noticed it now, so it's rising with 6 or so days to go. Sigh... Lovely green one to with stainless strap. If you can help me get one for 70 out 80 gbp. Well if be thankful, and if wear it all the time, believe that! (and im a collector... Probably around 20 at the moment, but they do come and go. Was going to sell a couple of ltd ed G Shocks to find a nice Orient perpetual... But zodiac have a couple of avenues. WatchUSeek often have good deals (closer to real market value anyway... I dont get why people are paying 160 to 200 gbp for the Orient Perpetual... They are really nice and interesting... But.... They are NOT scarce. Ebay is full of them. Not all of those are real either, some. Frankenwatches among them I reckon! Anyway if you can find a reasonably priced Orient Perpetual, and im not that fussy on colour or style (though id prefer an orient bracelet over a ' leather' strap... I can share when I see some good deals but as they are in India, I will have to buy and ship it to you. The prices will vary depending on the condition and the seller. I got mine for around 6000 INR.

question: this could still be useable after the max year range correct ???, just that the month-year section (bottom section) will no longer be relevant (years and months setting) and we adjust the top section (day and date rows) at start of each month to correspond to the months beyond the maximum presettable years.
