I’m the lucky owner of a Morris Traveller and a mkii A40 Farina. Love them both but if I had to choose one it would be the A40 - just adore the styling and the driving experience - quirks and all. I’m forever smiling 🙂

Oh how interesting! Are they around the same year? The styling of the Farina is very cool and feels more modern than a Morris

Just found your channel and have subscribed. Being a child of the 60s and a teenager of the 70s, this era of car holds such nostalgia and interest. By the way, totally off-piste but I love the look of your watch. Cheers.

@4.08, the 'A' Series engine designed by Austin was introduced in the Austin A30 in 1951, it was later fitted in 1952 to Morris Minors

Hi, wow just stumbled on this, i have a 1960 Morris oxford which i drive as much as possible weather permitting and a 20 year old VW Golf for mostly daily use, I have been considering changing the Golf to drive an everyday classic and have made up my mind on having a minor as my everyday vehicle ,shared with the oxford when wanted or needed, essentially making them both my sole cars, great to follow this and i will be doing the same. Couldn't recommend it more highly - they're fantastic little cars and do really quite well at being an accommodating daily! I hope you find some other videos you enjoy on my channel- I recommend some of the ones about the holidays we've done in Peggy - shows how wonderfully usable the cars are!

I have the same car and desperately need a windshield and all the window mouldings. My problem is I need it sent to Merritt British Columbia Canada. Can you help me? Thanks in advance!

Hi, unfortunately I don't know much, but your best bet is probably to contact the Austin A40 farina club, when my parents were members they were quite helpful and seemed to have a lot of spares-there's also a few Facebook group

Rust was the killer on A40s I owned 3 during my time. But like all Austin cars mechanical ease of maintenance.
@passengerseatpodcast2 жыл бұрын
I don't think there's a car of the period that rust isn't killer on but absolutely right about how easy they are to work on!

I believe it's the same A-series engine in both cars?

Peggy is on the 1098cc, and Poppy is on the 948cc, but the Minor sold the same year as Poppy would have had the same engine, yes 😊

When I did a paper round at RAF Leeming in 1962 with my brother, I was 10 at the time , the shop owner used to turn up at 5 am in the A40. Brings back memories.

my dad ran an a40. and boy was it rusty. Boot lid and door sills were particularly awful

This one was particularly solid tbh, unfortunately the parents had to sell it recently but the new owner was thrilled with it 😊

I have to admit it's not as good as the Minor.

I think it depends on your metric when comparing these cars - I've another comparison coming out this week, and I found it much tricker as I love the car I'm comparing it to, but I don't think I could have done what I've done with a minor, with this other car 🤔 hopefully you're subscribed and you'll see what I mean on Thursday!
