How Does Someone Get Catfished For EIGHT Years?!

My nephew's father was 'dating' a 23 year old woman online with an insane medical/dating history. Every time they were set to meet she either had to have emergency surgery or the police needed her assistance in a sting to catch an ex of hers. Then the day after her surgery he'd call and she'd say she was out shopping with friends. She also faked her own death once only to come back weeks later. Then she admitted to being 33. Then, she admitted to being 53. He forgave her again. Unfortunately she died again and this time it stuck. (I assume she finally got sick of messing with him). That was years ago. Now he's been 'dating' a woman who lives an hour away for 3 years. He's seen one picture, they've never met in person or talked on the phone, but he's once again convinced this is the real deal. He was warned multiple times about the last one and this one. At this point it's getting hard to feel sorry for him

It’s a decision to choose temporary happiness over the truth and actual happiness from within. The reality is even if this person is real and everything they say is true, this person is not the one because people who love or even truly like you will make time to come see you or let you come see them. Especially within 2 years. So I’d still advise him to leave this person even if they were legit.
