Great explanation. Always wondered how this was achieved .

Well explained. Now i understood it well. And agreed, it will be more important in the future for sure

Thanks for this explanation. I still have my doubts about spatial audio quality in 2 driver headphones.

This is the most explanatory video I have found on the subject. Great job! I had no idea humans could tell timbres apart with that minute of detail. Very cool. Although, does that mean that it is harder to tell the location of a source that produces pure sine waves, which have no changeable timbre? Also, I just want to clarify for educational purposes that interaural level difference is the vary difference in intensity/loudness between our left and right ears. The interaural time difference is the varying contrast between the time that one ear receives the signal and the time that the other ear receives the signal. This means that this value VARIES with the location of the sound. It is not the exact same value every time. Furthermore, this value also changes with relation to the speed of sound in the specific medium. The times will be slightly different if you're in a different elevation, season, or in water. Speed of sound in air: v=sqrt(γRT/M). v is velocity. γ is the heat capacity, or adiabatic index. T is temperature. M is molecular mass. There are a lot of things that can affect the interaural time difference. Again, great video! Taught me some applications of acoustics and left me thinking. Keep up the good work!

Very nice explanation. But obviously not video professor 😅 Is it only on my phone, or is the picture out of sync and with terrible frame rate?

Hi, Lorne! Really interesting video! I am starting my PhD working with making a technology to help visual impaired players to be able to play games in a better way, based on 3D audio and spatial audio. I was wondering if you have any recommendations regarding a headset for this kind of work. Also I would be really interested to talk further with you about my ideas if you have the time. Best, Alex

Love this! Epic explanation! Thank you! What plugins are you using? I loved the spatial audio one, as well as the visual spectrum ^_^

I agree that we will be hearing more Spatial Audio in the future for video games and movies but what is the benefit of Spatial Audio in Music? I don't see the necessity of Spatial Audio of music in my headphones while I am running a chainsaw. I just don't see how John Denver can be improved by it. Doesn't Spatial Audio start with the recording of the sound source with multiple mics to capture the true original source?

You call yourself Audio Professor but your voice isn't in sync with your lips (your voice recording isn't in sync)

I do quite a bit. When waiting for my kids at some activity or at night watching my iPad. I actually upgraded my iPad to use the spatial audio with it.
