I own a B8.5 S4 and I drive a lot 40k miles in one year no joke and I personally wish I got an S6 purely for the creature comforts but I don’t like the sound of S6 maintenance. The S4 is actually very reasonable to maintain.

I sold my 2011 s4 about a month ago had no issues reliability vise and was shopping for s5s s6s and s7s but then out of nowhere i found a 2015 misano red rs5 with 37k miles and jumped on it. The sound is something everyone needs to experience in person it sound as good as v8 Ferraris

The S4 *can* come with some epic interior options (aluminum wood inlay, panda nappa leather, etc) but most don’t, and none of those options compare to the interior of the S6.

My commute is 34 miles. Plus dad life. Took me all of like 3 days to conclude that 4.0tt is life. I think fuel mileage is actually probably better then a double pulley s4. That kinda kills it on those.

Love the vid.'s. I have a 16 stage 1.5 S6. You are spot on when you say if you want a highway missile... I also have a stage 3+ B5 S4. Keep that for tooling around town and pouring $$ into it. That's fun! The S6 is big but I can drive 1000 mile straight and get out of the car and feel great. Can't say that about too many other cars.. B8 would be a good compromise of both.

@@johnjuarez8005 it’s a rare issue, the dual mass flywheel in my dsg started making clunking noises and it drove me nuts so I replaced it. It’s prob due to the previous owner launching the piss out of the car 🤣.

I think mine is currently doing this. Sometimes when I am at a stop, I can hear like a rotational grinding sound. Also, I get clunks here and then when the transmission shifts down on it's own. Sounds like I have a dual mass flywheel going out :(

Not sure about the S6 but the S4 stock cat location is horrible.... so much heat. On FBO 2+ cars, w/ upgraded throttle-body, not having high flow cats can really hurt performance as well cause major cat / motor failure on the S4 8-8.5's. Upgrading the exhaust to a cat-back , including DP's, seems pointless without going high flow cats allowing the exhaust to fully flow on an FBO tuned 2+ car IMO... unless your just looking to make noise and wait for the cats to explode.

The true difference between the two is that the S6 never came in a manual and the S4 did. Had a 14 S4 manual and loved it. Traded it in for a family car (sad day) and couldn’t afford the S6 at the time, but I don’t think I’d get the S6 even still. I prefer to drive the car not let the car drive me. Manuals for the win!

That’s a separate issue. Air/oil separator is for oil in the intake; turbo oil filter is the oil filter before the turbo

@@johnjuarez8005 yeah it’s pretty expensive unfortunately. They have to walnut blast all the carbon off. Dealership charged about 1k. When I spoke to my mechanic, he said when car starts idling roughly that’s when it needs to get taken care of. I’m in a similar position to you; got an S5 2013 with 95k miles

The pcv valve dumped coolant into my motor and blew the head gasket on the 3.0t. Motor locked b8 s4 140k miles 🙃 never used coolant the 20k miles I had it

Admittedly, I did put an exhaust and tune on the A5 and it made it very much like the S4 as far as performance. It was more than enough for me because I'm more about handling than straight line speed. The A5 definitely was the better handling car for sure.

Positive crankcase ventilation. Common problem with the 3.0T. Mine went bad at around 90,000 miles.
