The International Space Station is the largest man made object in space. It was built in pieces and then launched into space and assembled in orbit. In this video we'll go over some background about the station and then walk through each module in the order that it was assembled.
This animation took a long time to make - enjoy and please share your comments with me!

Just a little note, it wasn’t just the US and other countries deciding the build a space station. It was a little more complicated. The Japanese had been planning on having what we now know as Kibo on Freedom, but the Europeans had been planning on launching their own small space station, but it was cut and reduced to only a single pressurized module. This became the Columbus module. However, the ISS wouldn’t have happened without the Russians’ failure to launch a direct replacement for Mir. Mir-2 and Space Station freedom were both struggling for funds, so the Clinton administration approached Russia to combine the two struggling projects into one International Space Station.

@Jun Don Putin's regime wasn't exactly playing within the rules when they invaded Crimea, and there have been other infractions as well. We just don't talk about them because we're allies now, right? We stretch the rules for our "friends" all the time, probably why Saudi Arabia gets away with literal murder. As for the modules, you are incorrect. Only the Unity and Destiny modules are "US", Columbus and Tranquility are European, and the two JEM modules are Japanese.

It's not out of the atmosphere, but it is in space. There's quite a bit after you enter space before you exit the atmosphere.
@sebastiannolte1201
@sebastiannolte1201 Жыл бұрын
"It's not out of the atmosphere, but it is in space. " Although I understand what you want to say, it doesn't make much sense. With space we usually mean "beyond the atmosphere", it usually should mean the same. But as the atmosphere becomes thinner fluenlty it is not possible to say where the atmosphere ends (and it doesn't matter, maybe we should just stop using the word "space", only brings misconceptions for many people). So every definition is arbitrary. The 100 km definition was made originally to say not where the atmosphere ends, but where "aviation" ends. But of course there is still atmosphere So I guess ou would at least count the thermosphere as the atmosphere? And to you "out of the atmosphere" means "out of the thermosphere"? Of course it is also impossible to say where exactly that is. And a few years ago scientists find hydrogen molecules that can count as part of the atmosphere even beyond the moon. Actually it is the first time that I see somebody who uses different definitions for "space" and "out of the atmosphere".

The company I worked for in the 1990s designed the main power contactors for switching power between the solar panels, batteries, and space station loads. I was lucky enough to be one of the design engineers on a very small team in Santa Barbara that made that contribution. It was thrilling work. The power system from the solar panels and the accompanying batteries is I believe a 155 V DC system. It required new technology to make lightweight contactors that could work in space. That’s what we did. Thanks again, Steve

See. When nations come together look how far we can come. We gotta stop focusing on wars because it’s just pointless. We should be focusing on space exploration and what we’re missing out on.

I would hope more of the money spend on pointless wars was given to NASA, war brings us backwards, NASA is trying to bring us forwards, I can't tell you how fascinated I was as a kid learning about space

@@Bananappleboy I think we should use the term climate change, global warming isn't exactly true, the climate would have more extremes (hot and cold), not just a warmer earth. This is for those " *woke* " people that try to disprove global warming and claim that NASA is a hoax, basically morons

All lies the real reason there is a firmament. Humanity does not know how to break this barrier. don't know how to get through that barrier and there's no space outside. and you can't get out or go into space-it's all lies. You're being lied to about the space that no one has ever been in . You don't get tired of spreading nonsense about a space that doesn't exist!!!! That no one has ever been to. Can't get out of our EARTH
