Sounds very good to me. You can definitely hear when it grabs. I think a good pre, EQ, and one of these would make a nice chain for vocals, bass, and guitar tracking for a lot of home studios.

and drums for hiphop?
@jacobseal2 жыл бұрын
@@truesearch69 probably but you would need 2 of them for stereo processing. I got one used and I really like it. It does the 1176 thing way better than the waves CLA plugin.

You have to drive the input higher to get gain reduction?? I had to drive my output for it to work. Thats probably the wrong way to do it right?
@hannibalbarkas13502 жыл бұрын
When you drive your output you drive your preamp harder or whatever device comes next.

Is it worth it for vocals? Rap or singing especially, i love waves but after passing my audio enginnering course, im want to get completely hands on with hardware.... at £205, is it gonna make a difference
@ctld52663 жыл бұрын
There a shoot out from Present day production where wav files are available for download. when phase reverse with real 1176 it almost nulls out, which doesn't do any plugin. So we can say it sound very close to a real 1176.
@PacificBird3 жыл бұрын
The hardware gets you VERY close to the original units, which even my beloved Arturia FET-76 plugin doesn't do. I'd say for the price, you can't get better hardware rack compression for cheaper.

Hey Browne! Thank you for this! Been super interested in this guy for a while now! I’ve heard from some people though that the longevity of the cheaper outboard gear like this one and the warm audio gear etc when used regularly comes into question. Needing regular repairs or straight up buying a new unit. I have close to no experience with these units to know myself. Have any thoughts on this? Thanks man :)

For the price I think it offers a lot. Problem is the consistency in quality. Some units have problems or dont work properly after some time...Even though not been under intensive use. A direct competitor is warm audio wa76 which costs 2x but also have possible quality issues. The WA76 has more character compared to KT76. All in all, KT76 is a very good start in the analog domain.

@@levijessegonzalez3629 I sold both KT2A and KT76 and ended up with 500 format. I use an IGS 576 bluestripe and an IGS Tubecore 500. They are definetly another level. The tubecore is a vari-mu and find it more flexible compared to an LA2A clone can be.
