Dear Phil, your explanation makes perfectly sense to me. I have CFS myself and doing CBT as treatment where i hear basically the same informations that you give 😊 What i find very difficult is: during an overreactive response of the nervous system, which always comes to me from an activity, physical or mental, in my case extreme fatigue, i have no control at all and i have to wait and suffer for hours before the overreaction fades out and i feel better again. Unfortunately when i then do some activity again than i get another extreme fatigue attack and so on every day.
@DrPhilParker6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message Nicola, I'm glad it made sense. How is the CBT addressing that for you? The LP tends to be different from CBT approaches which usually combine coping and pacing; instead the LP is all about giving you tools to restore your control over that system that controls all the other systems.. theme for another video I think :)

Phil Parker Thanks for your reply Phil! 😊 Well, basically what i am learning is that my body has become overprotective and not used to activities anymore, due to the CFS, that’s why he reacts so heavy with these fatigue attacks when stimulated. This is what i find it in common when you talk about the nervous system. What we are doing is transforming all negative thoughts into positive and more helpful thoughts and most important building up activities, i started in november with 1 minute walking and now i work 2,5 hours twice a week in a kennel as a volunteer and i can do it! That’s amazing isn’t it. Of course i still get exhausted and i know it is a long way to go, sometimes very little activities not planned in advance can cause me a heavy flare up. I though strongly believe in the mind body connection and slowly taking more and more control over the fatigue. Hope my reply makes sense 😅

Great explanation. I’ve been running my own business for the last 15 years. In the last 8 years I’ve noticed my body reacting to some of the fragrances we use. I am usually in that high PER mode when I’m working as it is a stressful business to run. Recently I have been riddled with MCS and fatigue. I have figured out that my body now goes into stress mode anytime I smell a fragrance. This results in intense headaches, fatigue and cognitive impairment. I have recently discovered meditation to help dissolve the pain in my head. This lightning process sounds like the next step for me. I feel like Im that army you talk about as running my business has meant I’ve been on full attack mode on the battle field for to long. Now anytime I smell any scent/ fragrance etc...the PER mode kicks in and my head starts to spin. Looking forward to learning more about the lightning process to help re program my autonomous nervous system response. Thanks Phil

I have heard about people with ME diagnosed with the Canadian criteria that didn’t get better from Lightning Process and even got worse. Is that true, and what is the reason for that? The course is so expensive, so it would be good to know beforehand if there are certain groups you know of that shouldn’t take the course, and what percentage of ME patients (not CFS) that get well. I know a person with ME, and she doesn’t have a lot of money. She’s been ill for about 3 years, and is desperate for a cure.
@DrPhilParker5 жыл бұрын
Hi Astrid, In my experience that is not correct- we have seen people diagnosed with all the main diagnostic criteria/classifications. We have seen those with mild severe and extremely severe (fed through tubes, living in darkened room, unable to speak or tolerate sound)- those who have had it for a few years and those for decades- generally the results are good for all of these; although as with most approaches not everyone gets all the changes they want - but that seems to be completely independent of their severity. And in the recent RCT study on the LP and specialist medical care no adverse effects were reported from either of the interventions

Thanks, great info. How much time does a person have to engage every day doing LP in order to get better? The reason I ask is that the DNRS requirement was 1 hour per day and I didn't have enough energy to do the whole hour. Thanks : )
@DrPhilParker2 жыл бұрын
Hi I don't know that much about DNRS, apart from that its founder took the LP to recover her health... The LP isn't structured that way and speaking to those who've done both they've found the LP to be a more flexible, deeper and gentler approach.

Hi, I have just quick question. almost 1,5 year I have problem with CFS I am trying healing my symptoms and myself just with herbs mainly adaptogens, it was help a bit at least I can live during a day a bit and sleep at least few hours with some "sleep" but I cant live like this another years I am 22.I can feel how my body and brain is still switched in SNS all day I am overeacting manly for exciting and even small stress makes my heart beat more fast and a lot of infflamation and another symptoms you know what I mean. One year and half I am not working because I cant somedays I dont have energy to take care of myself. The question is I have very bad problem with concentration, visualisation and imagination because of this CFS and Insomnia problems do I dont know if this program will work for me,cause every of these programs are based on neuroplasticity and medatition, visualisation and another excersise. So If I have problem with this mind excersise I dont knoe if this can work for me and help me with healing. Because of the price I need to be sure and think about it. Thank you for respond 😊

So in fact it's an adrenal insufficiency due to an over reaction of the body/mind causing ME/CFS and is LP also helpful for chronic Lyme disease or better said Neuroborreliosis (also having CFS as one of its symptoms)?
@69birdboy4 жыл бұрын
Yasmine Day What you have to ask yourself is what causes the over reaction. Its a metabolic signature and body phenotype in itself. My brother has very bad anxiety but can work through a 60 hour week then run 10 km, whreas i have the same anxiety but its destroyed my ability to do anything

@@yasminedey8612 Its much more complicated i think Yasmine. I'm not even sure cfs is pathogen driven. I'll ask you a question back, to your knowledge, are you hypermobile?
@yasminedey86124 жыл бұрын
@@69birdboy No, I'm not hypermobile. I asked if you have lyme, as all with lyme also have CFS, as one of many symptoms. Adrenal insufficiency is e.g. caused by Herpes and a lot of Lyme patients have EBV causing Mononucleosis, leading to adrenal insufficiency and CFS.I believe CFS is pathogen driven, as all illnesses also the so called autoimmune illnesses are caused by parasites, if mold, viruses or bacteria. Anyway thanks for the link, I will look it up.
@DrPhilParker4 жыл бұрын
It is, as often is the case, a little more complicated - the adrenal/cortisol/sns activation is a part of the picture, but as sometimes it hyper or hypo- it is better to consider it as a dys-regulation of that system. As that system interacts with most other body systems the implications of this dys-regulation can be far reaching- creating feedback and feed-forward effects (i.e the systems that are affected can then worsen the problems in the adrenal/cortisol/sns systems). This generally considered to be part fo the reason these illness are often complex, variable and quite difficult to recover from.

Hi Phil. I've been recently diagnosed with ME/CFS. I was in an abusive marriage for 13yrs. Left him in 2006 . I'm with a lovely man now...but..my body is suffering now for it. Also the man I'm with now suffered a major stroke 2yrs ago...he's in recovery..but all this added trauma didn't help. I've been there for my fiance since the stroke.. I'm not complaining at all though. I'd do it all again if I had to. Anyway..sorry..I digress! Thank you, the video does make a lot of sense. I had some trauma therapy when I left my abusive controlling ex husband. I'm in so much pain and exhausted a lot of the time. I really hope I can ease my symptoms. Sorry such a long comment! Thanks for reading. x

Wikipedia says that lightning process is "cultish"...a person I know would like to try it but is a very pious Muslim so wants to make sure it has nothing to do with any religious/cultish practices
@DrPhilParker2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jule, unfortunately, Wikipedia is freely editable by anyone, so some pages are not to be relied upon. The LP page has got hijacked by those wishing to spread untrue rumours about the LP. It's actually a training course that looks at how you can use your brain to change the way your body works. Think of it a bit like learning a new language... and we've had many religious scholars, leaders, monks, nuns and followers of most of the world's faiths taking the course. They all comment that nothing about it conflicts with their various perspectives and often that it strengthens their relationship to their spiritual beliefs. As it doesn't follow any particular religious perspective it's also been found really useful by those with no spiritual beliefs. I hope that helps
