How Domantas Sabonis Became The REAL DEAL In The NBA!

Domantas Sabonis was drafted by the Orlando Magic with the 11th pick of the 2016 NBA draft...but he was traded twice in one year and found himself on the Indiana Pacers. He was just considered as a throw-in when the Paul George trade happened, but he has become a legit NBA player. The Pacers have quietly developed a good young core of players, and Sabonis is going to be a huge part of their future.
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include trivia, analysis, player stories, countdowns, conspiracies, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

Hendrix x got rekt? Dumb ass the Cavs barely won with complete bias from the refs and Lebron playing damn near 48 minutes a game. Check the free throw differential and crunch time calls. Pacers blew the cavs out twice in that series while the cavs needed everything they had to win by 3-5 points. Quit being such a homer for Lebron bro, that guy has enough homers in the NBA front office as it is.

I agree with Andy, Sabonis is a good solid player but the Pacers performance on the court really dips when both he and Turner are on the court together. A lot of the Pacers worst defensive lineups include them both starting so it will be interesting to see how the Pacers can reallocate minutes next season

How does it affect the defense? I don’t live in Indiana so I can’t catch all their games, but they seemed to be a pretty solid defensive team and Turner is a legit shot blocker who is more than mobile enough to stay on the perimeter. I’m genuinely curious

Waki Crespo Sabonis was in his 30’s when he came to the NBA, rarely do you see people above 30 win MVP...Sabonis winning MVP would have been possible but I wouldn’t guarantee it. If he would have come to the US as a 20-25 year old I would’ve guaranteed you at least one MVP.
@sandernista6499
@sandernista6499 6 жыл бұрын
Arnas N He was already injured and banged up when he came to the states. If he was fit, he could definitely have won an MVP at the age of 30. He was still decent even as an old guy with multiple injuries. I'm sure hed be at least a borderline allstar level if he was fit.

He moved to Spain at a really young age, played in the academy’s teams of a euro League team. It is the same thing that happened with Doncic they were part of the organization of a professional team, but they didnt play against a high level, professional team until they turned 16. Its just that in Spain all the professional teams, have many “academy “ teams, good players dont play in their highschools.

He's got one of the best post games in the NBA today. He reminds me a lot of Kevin McHale or Vin Baker, a guy who utilizes a vast repertoire of finesse moves and bully bumps to get to the basket. If Sabonis had joined the Portland TrailBlazers around 1988 or 1989 I have no doubt Portland would have been able to upset the Chicago Bulls in 1992. They were so close with their team of Clyde Drexler, Cliff Robinson, Terry Porter, and Buck Williams. I don't think Chicago would know what to do with a 7'3 center that could shoot three pointers lights out. He could easily shoot over their best defenders like Horace Grant, Scott Pippen, and Michael Jordan. Their centers like Bill Cartwright, Will Perdue, Scott Williams, and Stacey King would have to be chasing him at the three point line which would take them away from their inside game of collecting rebounds which they were good at. His large body and shot blocking abilties would have prevented those Chicago centers from making those easy buckets. Sabonis would have caused Chicago many mismatches.

And he wasnt playing for the euroleague . He played for the EBG Málaga until he was 16 then played in the Junior team of the Unicaja de Málaga. >Then he played some games for Unicaja in the ACB in the local Spanish league.

12 team league, what would be a good draft position for him? i imagine his ceiling isn't very high since he backs up turner AND oladipo has the ball a lot.

As an okc fan i was pissed when this trade was announced, this just shows how okc really doesn't like to develop their rookies. I bet the rookies they've drafted won't get any pt or will be traded.

Sabonis looks like a good fit for the Spurs. I wonder when he becomes a FA, if the Spurs will make him an offer?

Keep wondering because Indy's not stupid enough to let him go, plus he loves playing for the Pacers and him and Dipo have chemistry and bond together.

Even though his numbers didn't show it, I thought he was efficient on OKC. I only watched a few of their games that year but whenever I watched he was hitting everything and wasn't making too many mistake. I kind of thought he was underrated. But good to see other people giving him his props. I think with his outside he can play some 3 on offense. I thought has was a 4 that feels like that should be his natural position.

Anyone noticed that Oladipo and Sabonis got drafted by the Magic, played for the Thunder and got traded to the Pacers. *COINCIDENCE* I THINK NOT
