incarceration without rehabilitation. he was convicted and sentenced, yet no rehab took place during his sentence, as with civilian criminals as well. we want to just throw people away and pretend they no longer exist when in fact they are set to be released and should be rehabilitated if at all possible.

There is 3 times as much domestic violence in military families and it usually doesn't involve PTSD or traumatic brain injury, just the mindset of the military, that teaches obedience and solving problems with violence.

I think it's important that we recognize that domestic violence is nuanced and has different causes in different situations. We have to be careful to include and study other catalysts like growing up in violence, income inequity, etc.

My father was in the Navy and he joined because my mom was pregnant with me. He was only 17 at the time and turned 18 after I was born. Being that he was so young, lacking education and work experience the military was the his best option for employment.
