#4 @0:49 In October, 1991 he sparks anger among Quebec politicians when he defends Eric Lindros’ decision to shun the Quebec Nordiques: “They don’t want our signs . . . they don’t want our language and then they can’t understand why an 18-year-old kid from Ontario doesn’t want to go there. Get with it.”

I used to attend Cincinnati Mighty Ducks games before netting and the fans behind the net were so close and fully exposed. I ended up writing the team a letter requesting the netting and never got a reply. Then about 10 years later the poor girl in Columbus lost her life. A sad situation.

The context was a situation where a male player made a heated remark to a female reporter about the game, brushing her off by suggesting she doesn't know anything about hockey because she's female. ive worked in warehouses all my life. i remember a time that there was this one girl who felt it was ok to walk into the mens dressing room when she was showing new guys around the building. i was in the dressing room one time when she did it and one of the other guys in there who was married and had kids went up to my union rep and said, "hey is it ok if i go into the girls changeroom?" with a sarcastic tone. the union rep said "absolutely not". the guy then asked "so why is it ok for her come in here?". she got fired shortly after. that shits not ok.

Each and every one of us would likely be fired like Don is we shared the same views, with the same energy he diplayed, while sitting in a full meeting room at work. There are few employers, other than small private busniesses, that will allow these words to be uttered in the workplace.

Isn't Don Cherry only a celebrity BECAUSE he has a lot of strong opinions? These people in these companies likely were not hired specifically to be blowhards like he was. That IS his job. Is it even right to fire people just because they don't agree with a certain corporate dogma? Could a person who is, say, vegetarian, be fired from a job at a fish packing plant for telling a coworker that a vegetarian diet is healthier?

​@@vancouveride Don's celebrity is his coaching status. His main job is to provide his coach's perspective on the nights' game and any other relvant hockey news. He's known for going off-script and that is why so many people like or love him. But, there's a time and place to share opinions and Don chose the wrong place to share his anti-immigrant rant. I'm not an immigrant, but I suppose Don would lump me and my whole family into the same category simply beceause we never buy poppies.

@123645445 I know who Grapes is. At least his public personality. Loved those Rock 'em Sock em's videos at Christmas. Felt bad for him too when his Rose died a few years back. I think we all knew someday Don would go out on his shield due to saying what he actually thought.
