Don was even the first person David allowed to listen to the very first PF music recordings David did. Years later and after his PF day when David was still doing sold out concerts in the UK he ran into a mutual friend he had with Don who told him he should come to a party Don was throwing. David thought GREAT I haven't seen my good friend Don and a long time so he was excited to go. As soon as he got there he walked up to Don and told him it was great to see him again and wanted to get caught up with each other. Don turned around and ignored David. Don would not even acknowledge that David was standing there and would not talk to him. This was during the time Don was receiving great fame for his role in Miami Vice. David was shocked at how much Don had let fame change who he was. David was extremely hurt and also very upset and left the party and never talked to Don Johnson again. David even wrote about the experience in his book "Come on get Happ." To me, it was obvious that Don was always jealous of David, which never dawned on David. David was a down-to-earth kind of guy who never had an ego about his fame and it was hard for him to acknowledge when other artists/actors did.
