You missed out the drama that made her now husband seem shady when they got together. Salma was pregnant before they got married and he had also impregnated the former supermodel Linda Evangelista around about the same time. She even took him to court for refusing to acknowledge he had fathered the son. Imagine their daughter has a half brother a couple months or so difference in age. So for anyone idealising this relationship as goals these people, are famous and have an amount of control over what gets put out about their private life.
