The funny thing is they won’t remember that specific time they were firing line drives at kids in the outfield because it wasn’t the only time.

Can you imagine being Don Mattingly, and find out one of those kids from that one silly story you have, is actually one of the biggest current comedy stars and he’s telling the story.

Why would Mattingly be with McGriff, in 89, in Tampa, at a HS, taking BP, during spring training? Problems: 1. 1989 teams: Mattingly - Yankees McGriff - Blue Jays 2. Spring Training locations 1989: Mattingly - Yankees.....Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 1962-1995 East Coast of Florida McGriff - Blue Jays.....Dunedin, FL 1977- present Tampa area, West Coast of Florida 3. Driving Distance from Ft. Lauderdale to Dunedin, FL - 270 miles. So, why would Don Mattingly, a Yankee, drive 270 miles 1 way to take BP, with McGriff, a Blue Jay, alone together, at a High School?

This is historic, a good Bert story. The only way it could be better is if he was the guy getting hit in the head with the ball.

Bert tells a story like Swiss cheese: full of holes. High school students running "player appreciations?" What the hell is that? I highly doubt pro ball players went to a high school to do batting practice. He makes no sense, but I guess that's how he makes his living.

his class mates have confirmed the machine story. and much of the van wilder story was confirmed. supposedly the bear video exists but i can't find it.
