We know that the Dallas Mavericks superstar, Luka Doncic, is a great scorer, but the team's success in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers was due to his improvement in other areas, which will ultimately determine their playoff fate. Suns' Grayson Allen aggravates ankle injury vs. Timberwolves. Pascal Siakam leads resurgent Pacers offense in 125-108 victory that evens series with Bucks.

I think Gafford/PJ is a testament to how different playoff basketball is from regular season basketball. Gafford came in to Dallas with all the highlights, dunks, blocks, and Wilt-like records of efficiency. PJ came in with very underwhelming shooting and counting stats. Now playoffs mean players will get exposed on their deficiencies, especially defensively. Gafford strives on the physical game, but at 6'10 he can't do that against the taller and heavier Zubac. He's gotten exposed defending on the low block, where even skinny rookie Lively has fared better, because he's taller at 7'1. At the same time PJ has been the Mavs' third leader in minutes and points, and a crucial part as both a point of attack defender but also a help-side rim-defender.

If the Mavs get out of this round, I think Gafford be huge in an OKC series. He’s thrived against those undersized bigs. Lively has been better against the bigger centers like Jokic over this run.

We also have to take into account that Gafford is not 100% healthy. He has been suffering a injury on his back from the beginning. I understand what you say but at the same time I still trust in Gafford. If he recovers he will have an important impact for the Mavs because he is a good player, physically strong and that gives you a lot of energy. We will see how he plays in the following games.

I'm not saying he wasn't good but a good Luka game is at a different standard. It includes him playing with better efficiency, fewer bad shots (like the 2-for-1 he took), a bit less ISOs, etc. A good Luka game is due and it's better than what he played so far, we all know he is plenty capable of having better games.

Honestly, if he makes 2 more of his 3s in game 1 and 2, that’s the difference. He did miss a couple point blanks shots also that are normally automatic. So the 33 game could have been 43 EZ. He’s do in the next one!

Kevin Durant can get 40 all he wants (which is why we put KAT on him), but that's going to take a lot of shots away from an already frustrated Booker and Beal who'll have 0 rhythm. Suns are cooked. Defense wins championships, and they don't have any.

To Tim's point about Luka passing up several shots for scoring opportunities within a possession or a drive, it was strategic imo. In the first game Luka just dribbled up and shot a three in a defender's face almost all game. He made it a point in game 2 to not "settle". It's actually pretty amazing that he can do that and it's also genius because it helps him later in games when he sees that guy again. There was a play he took a defender (Zubac?) off the dribble to the elbow, faked a fade away, feigned a floater, pivots, spins then finally laid it up off the glass. The reason that is genius is because he has now catalogued all the things he can do to that particular defender next time- smh. Insane. And that 3-pointer I was talking about, from game 1 that he kept shooting in defenders faces, maybe too much? He saved that one for last, in game 2 in Hardens' face. Beyond next level chess!
@glennvastine4118
@glennvastine4118 10 күн бұрын
It’s clearly Luka/Kyrie vs Kawhi/George because I feel they are now evenly matched everywhere else. Clippers need Harden to be great and Dallas needs their role players to make threes. It’s as simple as that.

Media and Mavs fans are delusional and dmb! (Media and Mavs fans) Game 1 Mavs struggle but it wans't the Clippers defense at all it was just a bad shooting game, Game 2 Clippers struggle and it was all Mavs defense it wans't a Clippers bad game. The harsh reallity that media and Mavs fans fail to recognize it that, Game 1 Clippers defended really well and with transition offense they where able to shot the ball above they avg so it wans't just a bad shooting game for Dallas or a ''lucky'' game for the Clippers, Game 2 Kawhi joins the game the ball movement got really stagnant almost forcing Kawhi to shoot and not getting others involved, did Mavs played good defense? Yeah but it wanst all! Now when I hear people saying that Mavs wont shot this bad (talking about game 1) sure they wont but Clippers also wont shoot this bad (talking about game 2) and these Mavs fans saying Luka and the Mavs still struggle Game 2... Well, they shot 42% from the field (bellow they season avg 48%) and 42% from 3 (above they season avg 36%) so please reduce yourselfs to your ignorance and don't talk just to talk! And media needs to start watching the games instead of watching the highlights.... Also Clippers played an exelente Game 1 biggest lead 29, second quarter Mavs came back because the lead was so big and any normal person could see that Clippers took they foot out of the gas and burn the clock starting they offense when there was 6 secs left on the clock (Mavs with 20+ FTA)! Mavs with a more or less season avg shooting night and Clippers with the worse shooting % of the season still manage to lose only by 3! Clippers have a better and deeper team if you don't think so, well, you are dead wrong! Sure I'm talking as a Clippers fan but I have a brain and I know how to separate things!
@BassYakCam
@BassYakCam 11 күн бұрын
I’m a Mavs fan. The Clippers are deeper and overall more talented. I would fall more to the middle in the debate of “great D vs bad shooting” in both games. Was a bit of both. Tim’s point, and I agree with it, is Dallas has two stars that you trust to come through in the clutch, vs the Clippers having one. Harden, PG, and Russ are certainly capable. But history suggests they will underperform in the biggest moments. We shall see though. Also, I agree with Tim that if the Clips continue to to be great at limiting Lively and Gafford offensively, Luka needs to be more aggressive in the midrange. It’s probably the best shot you will get in the possession. I fully expect Luka to GO OFF in the first game back in Dallas. But again we shall see. It’s gonna be a good series that could go either way. 🤝 Respect.

I am about as big a Mavericks fan as it gets and I will say that Kawhi is not overrated. He may be a little past his prime but he's still very dangerous.

He comes from an injury. He is a HOF and we have to respect him. If he starts feeling it he can be very dangerous.
