Just to summ up This cover is a same statement as Kendrick's oversized dimond belt buckles and Tiffany incrusted new era hats, or Chanel cropped strait pants and leather shoes etc. He's highlighting the iconic basic hood elements and elevaiting them on another level claiming as an artform itself. This is elements of his upbringings, unintentional style that he was surrounded with and what makes him who he is right now and from where he speaks. He's bringing this "symbols" up letting you know what made him. In a same way Drake made this cover that's summs up pretty much modern "romantic relationships" of this gen and someone like Drake, that taking place in the chat messages and emotions that burried somwhere in betwen corny pickup oneliners and batches of emojis. And he not just decides to go with emojis, but he hires most high profile contemporary artist to design and hand paint that , elevating "symbols" of his own reality on a crazy artistic level. That's pretty Drake I'd say, and sooo CLB) It just that Kendrick and Drake has very different realitys and upbringings;)

The main problem with album covers now is they are missing the title fonts. Other than streaming services, how am I supposed of know what the album is called if the title is not on the cover? That was exactly what I thought when I first saw The Big Day by Chance The Rapper on Twitter being compared to Ready To Die, Enter The Wu-Tang and Illmatic. At the time, I knew what the other three were called, but not this album with a hand holding a disc with diamonds in it. Maybe if they put a title on the cover, I would’ve instantly figured that out.

He said due to streaming his album cover represents the “open casket” for CDs. It’s actually genius, but after that I think artists started entertaining the idea of an album cover being pointless.

I actually like the CLB cover because it dumb and simple but it still catches your eyes, as far as I know no other artist has ever used emojis on an album cover, "Certified Lover Boy" and it has a bunch of pregnant emojis definitely gives you a preview of how the album is going to sound.
