Queen Mary 2 in rough Atlantic seas during force 12 hurricane force winds in 2019. Watch how well Cunard's QM2 handles very rough seas and high winds during this November transatlantic crossing.
This video is a collection of deck scenes and sea views from the November 19-26 transatlantic crossing aboard QM2 in 2019.
Filmed aboard Cunard Queen Mary 2 during the 2019 transit of the Atlantic, it shows the ship in a Force 12 on 25 November, as well as stormy seas and heavy swells during the crossing.

It was incredible. She hardly moved. I got up to make a coffeee in our stateroom about 07.30am and could feel the stabilisers kicking in. Had a quick look out on the balcony and you could see from the waves thatbit was quite choppy. Went back insidecandcput tv channel on for shipping forecast. Came up with storm force 10. Jumped back into bed and checked my emails, looked up at tv screen again and it had changed to Force 12 Hurricane. Cup of coffee was on bedside table next to me and therecwasnt even a ripple in the cup! She was built to handle these conditions and she copes with it superbly. What a delight and priviledge to be on board.

This is very reassuring to me!I live in Seattle and I can hardly stand a 4 to 5-hour flight to the east coast of the US. I've been planning to take the train from here to the east coast then take the QM2 over to England stay in London for a few days then take the train up to Scotland

Hold onto that dream, Nemo! In 2017 I did a similar trip, riding Amtrak from Los Angeles to NYC then sailing on QM2 to Southampton. From there, I rode trains across the Channel, through France, and into Italy. Coming home was done in the same manner. No flights whatsoever, just to see what world travel was like without it. It was fantastic!

In 2009 we had also high waves up to 9 m . The QM 2 was quite calm in that kind of sea in the North Atlantic and we passengers noticed not to much of its behavior.

It’s too bad they can’t build massive ocean liners like this anymore because the consumption rates are too high and the efficiency is too low… she’s among the finest looking ships in the ocean for sure. Imagine what kinds of ships we could build today if money, pollution, and legislation weren’t a concern. I guess it’s just kind of a bygone era 🚢

a lot of the deckchairs are bolted to the floor. At least that was my experience when I was on a Royal Caribbean cruiseand we were not far from a hurricane. The backs of the chairs were whipping around like crazy but the chairs themselves were attached to the deck, not all of them mind you just some of them

Hi Chris, worked ax a casino manger on quite a few ships from March the 10th 1985 i joined what was the Roral Viking Sky now FOCL Boudicca, in Hong Kong, the casinos were mostly consecions like the Beauty Salon and gort shop. My first atlantibcrossing came later that year on the same ship at the beginning of November , for for days I hardly slept, I was in my element, as you were just on the bridge of QN2 waiting to hit the waves, that was me but I was in a lounge above the bridge hanging on to the real, we had 27 ft sees so there were plenty that sent spray over the top of the ship, the itinerary was l Lisbon to Ft Lauderdale and we had to do 18 knots all the way to get there on time, however the ship was buckling the bow and bye the forth dsy we had broken mostly along the side of the shifrom the twp27panes of glass broken it was fabulous, each time I did an Atlantic crossing, I prayed that tould be rough, in the 5 years i worked on the cruise ships that first crossing was the worst. Regards David.

I went across the Pacific from Chile to Australia on the Viking Sun and woke up to a storm that lasted for about three days and I loved it. I didn't mind riding the swells, it was the tilting side to side that felt dangerous. My goal is to take as long of a voyage as possible on the Q M 2 and enjoy the ship.

I was waiting for the heavy weather. Our journey from Cape Horn to Stanley in the Falkland Islands was much more dramatic. Forward parts of all decks closed to passengers. Lots of broken glassware. We got good videos but a wet camera! Not the QE2, but still a pretty big ship.

At force 8, the decks are not closed and QM2 is not moving around. You won't notice inside. Here, it is moving but no water splashing over the bow, so it's 11-12 probably. I had it with force 10 in November, no issue for this beauty, looked quite similar but less movement..

@@ChrisFrameOfficial Clearly the Pacific was fairly well behaved at the time. The largest waves ever measured have been in the Pacific not the the Atlantic! The Pacific is far larger and meaner than the Atlantic ! Read up about Pacific Typhoon Tip it was so large most Atlantic Hurricanes could have fit into it's eye. Don't let the Pacific's name fool you it's anything but passive.

Perhaps the fact that the QM2 was built to handle rough seas has clouded your judgment. If you want REALLY rough seas head to the Antarctic ocean. Scientists sometimes refer to it as the Southern ocean and it can be an awesome sight when it is stirred up.

If I ever went to Europe this would have to be the way. Very expensive however. I'm terrified of flying though. Will only travel by car, train if necessary. Oh well, thats life staying on the ground. If god had meant people to fly he would have given us wings.
