Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor looks to pull in investment to the country. It’s offering incentives to foreigners to work and live in the EEC’s three provinces of Rayong, Chonburi and Chachoengsao. Authorities believe the EEC will not just generate income for the government, but also bring about tangible benefits to the locals. However, not everyone is happy about the development. Some locals say it’s affected their livelihoods. CNA Correspondent investigates how the creation of the EEC has impacted the local community and whether or not it will bring economic success to the region.

When advanced industrialised countries talk about environmental and pollution concerns in other countries, their ulterior intention is to obstruct these countries to develop rapidly and start completing with

You are 1000% CORRECT! These are propoganda pieces pushing tired and woke narratives. When I see Thai students graduating with engineering or robotics degrees and then having to sell sliced pineapple or start a small restaurant it hurts my heart. This investment is LONG overdue and I'm happy to see it.

Its much simpler then that. All they do is saying some thing, what makes voters feel good. May be some firms follow and put a sticker on a fish can stating that its from a place where the fishing has no impact on the environment. That same people voting for this feel good lie, buy the cheapest imported fish and point the fingers at others. Thailand is next.

This is poorly done propaganda. Rayong is the richest province in Thailand by GDP per capita because most of our factories located there since 80s most of our manufactured goods exports produced in this province because it's nearby deep sea port. You make video to make it looks like Rayong is backwater fisherman village is laughable because we all know what is singapore's hidden agenda.

I have a different take on this. I see thousands of smart Thai kids graduating from college with engineering degrees, then starting a small restaurant or selling meat on a stick. Every time a country starts it's industrial growth it's dirty and then gets cleaner. The local Thai fisherman, et cetera can't defend Thailand from modern enemies or help it compete in the modern world BUT always seem to adapt and do just fine. I've lived here 5-years and I enjoy the stone age living and the modern which are often right next to each other and that will not stop because Thailand is making progress. Before this they had rock quarrying, other types of mining and VERY destructive industries worse than this. The farmers and markets continued all around them.

I always feel CNA cares more about fish and fisherman than any other industries and people. Throughout the reports in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, the concerns of building dam on Mekong river and industrialization in Thailand are always fish. Ironically, nobody in Singapore cares about the livelihood of local fishermen in the southern islands. Singapore never stops on its way to reclaimation.

The reason to why the number of fishes and squids are dwindling in the Thai Gulf is due to sea trolling and increase of fishermen. Nothing to do with pollution Etc. 15 years ago the amount of fish in the ocean was crazy. But at the time there weren't as many fishing boats and nets. Lack of fishing regulation and enforcement is to blame. Every private owned boat fishermen in Thailand will agree with me here. Every single time you go fishing you will lose your bait (whether it is jigging or just simple fresh lures) as it will get tangled up with fishing nets. And there are thousands of them. Most are left under lost and never retrieved. They catch everything. they don't care about size,. They take all their catch, then the small ones will be thrown away when back to shore but by the time they are all dead. Pretty sad tbh. Even 3-4 inch squids cant survive. they take everything.

EEC inThailand is a tangible and rigid industry development project. Not only manufacturing but also contribute to real estate , tranportation, and aviation industry for example hi-speed train from BKK to Pattaya and Rayong, expanding U-Tapao airport to be aviation hub in SE. Don't be worried about development in Thailand we gradually and carefully develop not too ambitious. However, please take a focus at your neighboring country opposite to Singapore i.e. Forestry City , a huge project in Malaysia.which they destroy nature and environment to create man-made island, this is severe environmental impact to your own country, why you still keep silent ?

Could not agree more. Infrastructure is very important but. Look In these provincial areas, there is still no friendliness in the quality of life of the people, mass transit, footpaths, and power lines. No one thinks of solving the problem, instead, instead, develops and builds a new city to escape the old problem, which has very few people who really benefit. There are only investors in the investor environment.

In the USA this is called Gentrification. Just like animals evolve so do a people. There will always be those on opposite sides of change. Gentrification improves local economics and provides jobs. Unfortunately here there fishermen are forced to fish further out. If any country is to grow so must the use of the land and the education of its people. With technology ever advancing the new generation will come in and experience better quality of life than their forefathers. Thailand cannot propel itself into the future or even keep pace with the global economy on its current fishing industry. Not that fishing is a major economic industry now but in other words if any industry is to thrive it must welcome change or inevitably become extinct; evolution will match on.

Tourists prefer clean countries for holiday !!! Thailands air and landscape is often very much polluted unfortunately !!! It is the land of smile and the land of plastic , 240.000.000.000 bags used every year !!!!! Crazy

The gov said they will ban plastic bags in 2023. Anddddd it still is sprawling everywhere. Speaks volume about how effective they are.

@@AllPileup yet you have no alternatives to plastic bags! Hell Koreans use plastic everywhere too! Thailand has already curbed many plastic bags policies including 7/11! If you have no alternatives to plastic bags and how to separate sauces foods etc then you have no say! If this government is ineffective then every government is ineffective lol! The US has criminals roaming the streets attacking people every second and being released back! LoL sit down you red shirt

@@_Alfa.Bravo_ and is their other alternatives to plastic bags that is cheap and effective for the locals to use? Koreans use plastic bags for their food and packaging they even have ice cubes in plastic cups at 7/11 in Korean for them to buy another plastic drink and pour it in! Don’t even with Thailand! Bangkok has the most variety of public transportation than any ASEAN city which does create smog but that’s the way it is! They have already constructed Metros and expanded them that other surrounding countries don’t have! Vietnam just added their first metro line last nov 21! Bangkok will soon have monorails, existing expanding BTS, MRT, electric boats and soon electric Buses! They are progressing!
