How Effective are Medieval Islamic Round Shields?

In todays video, we will be testing out the medieval Islamic and Arab round shield. Round shields were very common in the medieval Mediterranean, and their benefits were experienced all over the world. Lets talk about the round shield and test it out!

I'm blessed to have found your channel because I have questions. First of all, loved the video! I came here after watching the sword video (just as awesome). Second, in terms of style for shields and swords, I know you mentioned during the Abbassid empire that the Turk army (and Persian and others alike) all began using the curved Sinbad sword style during the 9th century Abbasid empire, but when the caliphs started employing Turkish amirs/soldiers instead of Persian ones did shield design change to be more aesthetically Turkish (like this one in the video with the colors and emblems)? Or do they generally keep Abbassid Arab designs/ emblems? if so what were those like? Also, would you ever upload a video on: 1. Abbassid empire combat techniques using swords including anything to do with wrestling or grappling? 2. Special war tactics specific to the Abbasid empire (ex: like the Greek phalanx) if there are any. I know this is a long comment and a lot to answer (sorry :)) but I feel like you would know. Thanks!

Know anything about 10th century round moorish Adarga shield? I'm currently attempting to make one but I'm mostly just guessing how it was done as theirs no proper detailed instructions on how it was made, and no surviving shields of its make and century 😔 only very few paintings and drawings of them.

You said the shield is leather. Is it just solid leather all the way through, or is it more like leather over wood?
