What a great interview to kickoff my trip to Austin, TX to see the USMNT take on Panama. I’ll be observing from Row 1 on the 6yd box. My excitement level is off the charts right now!

I was critical of Matt Crocker for rehiring Berhalter, but he deserves his flowers here, regardless of what happens with Poch, it's a statement of ambition
@mikal024Ай бұрын
I was also critical of him back then but considering he got Poch this time I suspect the Berhalter rehire was made by the higher authority.
@mrmr5580Ай бұрын
@mikal024 it might have been, but we'll never know, no one can fault him for getting Poch, I said after they fired Berhalter that Poch was worth asking the question to, Klopp was never realistic only national team job he'd take is Germany if it comes up, plus he needs a break, im English myself (but keep an eye on you guys because I have a few American friends and I find you guys and how the games growing on your side of the pond interesting, you've come a very long way) on TV, I remember an interview with Poch a few years ago, he was asked about the sport's growth in the US and was very complimentary of you guys, that's one reason I thought he was a realistic target, his style is simple but intense, he expects intensity from his players, but doesn't bombard them with too much information, it should translate well to the international game
@chancemiller9340Ай бұрын
He should have been fired before he could hire Mauricio, but he wasn't. We were lucky that his trash start didn't permanently damage US Soccer.
@mrmr5580Ай бұрын
@chancemiller9340 he could have been, rehiring Berhalter was just lazy and stupid, but he wasn't fired and thankfully for his own sake he appears to have actually got this right, I don't think it would have done permanent damage, there's always a solution, but rehiring Gregg wasn't a smart decision
@ramonecarrasco9613Ай бұрын
@@chancemiller9340 Assuming that decision to bring back Berhalter came from above, Matt Crocker's first move was bringing in Emma Hayes. The he follows that up by getting Pochettino despite delay by Chealsea and interest from Man United and Team England. EVen you should give Crocker his well deserved flowers!

I for one am really excited to see what Pocch can do. Its surreal to see him on the sidelines tonight vs Panama. Hoping for a well organized team that is hard to beat, never gives up, and can occasionally catch teams on the counter. I dont care at all if its boring if they win.

Many many kudos and respect to Matt Crocker for pushing and trying to get the best for the US teams, I hope his trickle down effect will be massive for our soccer landscape! Keep it going with focus and determination! Respect.

"Did we overachieve?" I watched every Olympic match I could, which was A Lot. The USWNT was clearly by the end of the groups the best team in the competition. That doesn't always mean you win, but no they did not "overachieve", they achieved.

Nice to see and hear the man behind the name. I have high hopes that he is successful and can help turn our mens team into a force to be reconed with. His last two hires have been beyond expectation.

Nice, insightful interview. Been a rough patch for a bit now as a fan with little reason for optimism. The recent ambition and response to that adversity and yes- the mistakes made has been top notch. Can't ask for more than that.From an outside perspective, that ambition translated to work put in and professionalism has ramped up considerably. I don't expect instantaneous miracles, but if we can sustain that over the long haul- I'm confident of good days ahead for US Soccer. Good onya- respect Matt Crocker.

Not to slight Pochettino, but Emma could lead the USMNT to World Cup win. She is amazing.

I was VERY critical of Matt Crocker in his decision to bring back Gregg. However, he deserves props for landing Poch. I hope the nepotism and soft ass mentality of US Soccer is gone for good.

I think she played a bigger role than people realize in us landing Poch. They are close friends from their time at Chelsea. It's no secret that they talk often and she was aggressively promoting the job to him. He was interested from the jump, but I definitely think she helped increase his excitement about the opportunity.

Emma double cheeseburger Hayes, is the name Chelsea fans gave her….On account of her being sponsored by McDonald’s…She seems to have acquired a little more poundage since landing in the land of the dollar. So I don’t doubt her ties to McDonald’s!

Dont forget this is the guy who brought back Berhalter when it was so obvious that wasn’t the right choice
@keithjmcnultyАй бұрын
Did Matt Crocker attend the Copa America this past summer or was he at the Euros? Does he know why Berhalter was a failed choice under Crocker and Cone’s leadership? Was he or anyone from US Soccer accountable for the Berhalter fiasco?

How is Poch a serial winner? He won one trophy at PSG, that’s it. I still think he’s a good manager but you can’t describe as a winner if you’re being honest
