Robotics is a collaborative effort, so it depends on what part you like the most, figuring out what material will grip but not damage the apple, or how to make the robot recognize apples

We've always considered both autonomous physical systems and simple manipulators as robots. A robotic arm is still a robot, whether being manually controlled or on autopilot. I'm not even sure robots strictly require inputs besides position feedback.

*My high school had a very weak science program. Our "robotics" club was really for the building of glorified remote controlled cars a la Battlebots. We had to meet after school with limited resources, learned very little, and only ever built one competitive model with a ton of help from our sponsor.* *Ah, the good old days.*

Oh. Yeah, that reference went right over my head. I blame Thought Cafe, but I guess interpretations of Carl's appearance, including my own, are pretty subjective. Unlike things that exist in the real world but Thought Cafe just whiffs on because nobody gave them a reference picture.

@maristotero3352
@maristotero3352 5 жыл бұрын
@@m_i_g_5108 Yep, it does 😊 You can't be absolutely certain about those things, but a lot of the first names people were given in Russia were descriptive, so there could actually be a boy named "Quiet", because he was a quiet baby. Then after centuries the word that signified someone's belonging to "Quiet's" family would become my last name.

Please I need an answer Is it OK to say "I have been having a cold for 3 days now?"
@dtremenak
@dtremenak 5 жыл бұрын
No. That's present perfect continuous, but "to have" is a non-continuous verb, which can't be used in continuous aspect (it's actually a mixed verb, but the form in which you can "have a cold" is non-continuous, unlike the form in which you can, say, "have fun"). You can figure this out by asking whether present simple continuous would be correct: "I am having a cold right now." You can't say that (unlike "I am having fun right now", which is fine), so you also can't say "I have been having a cold for 3 days now" either. To express that idea, you would typically split the aspect into a present simple part and a past perfect part (so you could express it as "I have a cold, and I have had it for 3 days now.")

@Mario It's funny that you should say that...I'm actually a software engineer specialized in numerical control and robotics :) Linguistics is "just" a hobby for me. Aspect is unfortunately a grammatical property that gets taught very poorly in English classes (both native and L2); it tends to be either conflated with tense or ignored entirely.
