that's easy: a number of Leicester's defensive players were poor last season (Ndidi and Soyuncu in particular, with Tielemans having his worst season in a Leicester shirt too) and Vardy could not find the net and Iheanacho was too inconsistent in front of goal. Danny Ward was also one of the worst keepers in the League by statistics in terms of save percentage. It should also be noted that some players were sold and not adequately replaced (Fofana) for financial reasons - apparently, the owners were in a tough spot financially and Rodgers had no reinforcements to call upon, as well as having a lengthy injury list for much of the first half of last season. His sacking was incredibly unfair in my opinion and Leicester deserved to get relegated just for that alone - it's not the manager's fault when his hands are tied with injuries and no money available to spend despite getting in excess of £60m for Fofana.

​@Durbanite2010 that is a completely inaccurate assessment. The rot had set in under Rodgers long before last season. He should have gone long before he did. Dean Smith, despite being a bang average manager had a better points per game ratio than Rodgers last season and he had Man City, Newcastle and Liverpool in the eight games ge took charge of. Smith picked up 9 points from 8 games. That form replicated across the season would have seen Leicester comfortably survive.

@sachinkelsen1751 Absolutely! Even then, Leicester had a much better keeper in Iverson on the bench. Rodgers didn't drop Ward for Iverson until game 26 when it was obvious that Ward wasn't good enough after 4/5 games alone. Bringing Iverson in ten games earlier alone would have probably been enough to keep Leicester up. Rodgers should never be allowed to get away with how disastrous his last 12-18 months at Leicester were.

Brought in the right players whether on loan or permanent, players from Prem teams (Winks,Casadei,Doyle) and an understudy to Kasper,also,he has found a formation,433,and stuck to it,not always played well,but ground out results,and have a good coach in Willy Caballero.Still didn't expect this run though,and to think there was talk of us going in for Ipswich's manager,which, as it is turning out so far,wouldn't have been a bad move.Well done "Top" for having faith and taking a chance !

Rodgers went from incredible to clown in 12 months. Then we held onto him for another 6-12 months too long. Over 240m spent by the club in just over 4 years on player transfers and facilities and that’s excluding the astronomical wage bill he ran up for the players he wanted, in the end we were worse than when he arrived.

Leicester deserved to get relegated last season. That was the consensus at the King Power last season, just like they deserved to win the PL in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021. Fortunately they are not blaming anyone else and getting down to sorting out the mess they got themselves into. Hiring Maresca is turning out to have been the best business of the summer.

If you look more closely Enzo does provide some latitude to the players if and when they need to go direct. He's coaching them game management something rogers seemed clueless about for 2 seasons! This flexibility is what's making the foxes so effective. Of course they will have to go up another gear for the prom. next season but Enzo has been there with City and will have everything ij place. He's gonna be hard to tie down when the big boys come sniffing.
