I used to work for big corporations after uni. I used to think it was a career. In the grand scheme of things, I created nothing, had no particular achievement to say this is mine (unless you call a Masters or a job title an achievement), and had no legacy for all the work I did. Ultimate decisions were with those who hired those who employed my boss. I know society looks up to people in suits who work in nice offices and drive expensive cars and think wow this is the life. It's not. Most of us are competing in appearances and don't really know what we are doing. But we're really good at faking being experts. I have more respect for people like Esther. She got her education right and her dream going. She is the one with the real career, not the other way around.
