Didn't expect to hear The Seekers singing at the start of this video. Lovely surprise. As for the FA Cup win it arguably gave belief to the great side that HK built. He was brilliant between 1981-87. He also put in place many of the pieces of the 1995 FA Cup winning side. Respect from a Liverpool fan.

I am the same age as these players and an Evertonian since 1963. They were the finest team I ever watched, Thank you for the amazing times.

Southampton fan here, I was only 9 at the time and that semi final goal that Adrian Heath scored where the ball pitched up in the sandy goalmouth was very fortunate and even to this day I’ve never gotten over it. Fair play to Everton for winning the cup that year though!
@paulkendall78905 ай бұрын
Thank you. You had a good team that year too. Didn't you finish second too Liverpool that year as well? Feel free too Correct me if I'm wrong.
@jamiepragnell39885 ай бұрын
@@paulkendall7890 Yep, we were a pretty good side in the 80’s. One year we got to both the FA Cup and League Cup semi finals as well and Liverpool did us over. No one was ever going to knock Everton off their perch in 1984….

I was there! Woke up the morning of the game and thought there’s no way we aren’t going to win this so I drove down to Wembley, got there around 11 and got a ticket from a tout for not much more than face value. A fantastic day. Thanks for the amazing video. Loved the look on Howard’s face at the end. Tears of joy not far away!

Me dad was a Spurs man but decided his kids find their own paths, which, growing up in Ulster could've meant any one of half a dozen clubs. I became blue in the mid 70s so '84 was my first blue cup final. Watching the game, and right from the first minute, Watford start carving out really good chances. They could've driven a bus between our centre backs and I'm thinking, they're bound to put one of these away sooner or later. Then Les Taylor gets into a good position, but he hurries his shot and it goes narrowly wide when me dad turns to me and ever so calmly says "1967" Everybody looks at him in confusion. "1967. Chelsea battered us for half an hour in 1967, and then first decent chance we got, we scored. Trust me, that's what's gonna happen here." I'm not even sure a full minute passed before Sharpy scored. He gets up from his chair to go and get a fresh beer with the air of a guru. "See, told ya. 1967"

Good ! But Lpool with Dalglish, Souness Hansen Lawrenson Rushie with unsurpassed 25 Derby goals was miles better Who could forget the 5 nil win at Goodison Rush scoring a record 4 in that game, now that's proper happy days in that decade for Lpool & Merseyside football too esp Wembley F.A. Cup Final in 86 & 89...

I was at Wembley that day. It was clear even from the stands, Sherwood was fouled. Andy Gray has always been a dishonest arrogant nob.
