Having watched the blues since the late 1950s it is great that this footage can show how wonderful stadium Goodison was. Ken mentioned the Goodison Road terracing the stretched under the main stand. It was accessed from turnstiles in Goodison Road from the park end to the Church end, and up stairs to reach to higher standing areas My late Father often took me under the clock high on the terrace were I first saw Bobby Collins Jimmy Harris Roy Vernon and Mickey Lill on the forward line. One regret is that any TV gantry was always on a cradle suspended from the Goodison Road stand, and we never had a TV mounted on the Bullens Road until the 70s The sight of the vast crowd that stood on the Goodison Road terrace was incredible. But no footage remains. My favourite speck in Goodison was the mid point, half way up in the old Park End stand. Seeing every part of he ground clearly. I recall seeing the great Alex Young give his finest ever display on a warm Wednesday evening in August 1965 when he scored a hat trick against a top Sheffield Wednesday team in a 5-1 win and who they would meet later that season in the FA Cup final, where Alex Young led the line with great skill that was often overlooked by Mike Trebilcock's exploits. Goodison in my opinion, is has iconic as the Centre Court at Wimbledon and Twickenham. given its place in the heritage of England's place as the home of football. The great PELE played his only competitive games in England at Goodison Park, a fact few fans seem to know about, And also you could walk around the ground to other areas in the early 60s and at the reserves games.

I am not an Everton supporter But ... Goodison Park has been one of The Best Football Grounds in the country up to the end of the 1980s. It has hosted an F.A. Cup Final, many F.A. Cup Semies, Home International matches and World Cup Final Matches and of course its Everton's Home. Time and circumstances move on ... remember you left Anfield as the rent was far to high, and the landlord set up his own team! so you went across the park to Goodison. This time "You are On The Banks of The Royal Blue Mersey" and when travelers enter Liverpool on The Mersey, it will be Everton at the helm of The City! ... All The Best and I am proud to say I had a pivotal roll in securing your move.

the same mistake as West Ham , Arsenal.... Also Goodison Park could be upgraded, expaned the west and south stand,...Now. loosing the soul, tradition, Pele played here, .loosing .the suburb, the roots interesting neighbourhood connection to Anfield stadium,...loosing the hill, just to get an instant steril stadium Bowl type like many others are today and positioned like many others today next to the sea or river . It is a interesting positon but in relationship to Goodison Park values it is nothing. It is a new type of shopping centre

@@ljiljacucak Everton F.C. studied what could be done to enlarge Goodison Park, yet three sides of the ground are land locked. Yes they could enlarge The Park End but could do nothing with the rest of the ground, furthermore those parts of the ground are becoming outdated. That is why they have to move and Progress ... as I said, you will be "On The Banks of The Royal Blue Mersey" and at The Helm of The City!.

15th February 1975. That day I went to Goodison for the first game. We lost in the cup to eventual runners-up Fulham. I don't remember anything about the game, I just remember my first terrifying view entering from the Top Balcony concourse. The bright green grass , floodlights on. I always get the same thrill to this dsy looking down at the pitch whatever stand I was sitting. I'm going to cry at the Southampton game this season. I know I wont be the only one.

One of my greatest early memories of Goodison Park ...I was 14yrs old in 1963, and Everton had just beaten Fulham 4-1..we had just become Champions of England...and as soon as the ref blew his whistle, thousands of us were onto the pitch celebrating!...it was my first experience of Everton winning a trophy...I'll never forget the team appearing in the stand showing the cup to all of adoring fans on the pitch below them!...I still get goosebumps thinking about that great day back in '63...💙

I can't explain the feeling us Evertonians get when we walk into Goodison. I don't get there as often as I'd like but it feels me with pride and passion for my love of Everton. From a boy of 9 in 66 to the last time I visited aged 67. Once a blue always a blue. Nil satis nisi optimum

Perfectly said Warren. The bright green grass when you climb the final steps on matchday takes me back to my first game every time. Brian Labone said it best mate. " One Evertonian is worth ten Liverpudlians ", he was spot on. Try to get to Goodison one more time mate or take the Stadium tour before we leave. Good luck Warren COYB 👏 👏 👏.

You are right Warren the feeling you get when you enter Goodison is similar to when you walk into a famous cathedral. I was born in 1955 and was born a Evertonian. Even though I saw my first game in march 1969. We lost 1-2 to Chelsea and the floodlights were on. The main stand was brand new and the atmosphere was fantastic. My dad took me to a pub called the Bow and Arrow for a shandy and crisps then onto the match. It was a bad result but a great day. It will be heartbreaking when we leave.😢. Up the Toffees.

It's an amazing view from the Top Balcony. In 1987 in a crucial game against Newcastle I happened to get a seat partially blocked by one of the pillars from seeing the Park End goal. I ended up in my mate's lap a few times when the Blues attacked. We won 3-0 and all the goals were at that end. Wayne Clarke hatrick.

Copyright in favour of Pathe News, which has a clip of that game YT. I was in the Gwladys Street stand that night still have the ticket stub. 5/6 On it you see a remarkable incident when Alex Young centre goal shapes up the hammer a shot on goal, and Ian Callaghan runs straight across him, and Ref, Kevin Howley waved play on instead of a direct free kick for blatant obstruction. Thankfully it never altered the result. Everton were unlucky in the 1967 FA Cup year, beat Burnley Wolves top sides , Liverpool then lost at Notts Forest to a late goal. They finished runners up in the league that year.
