Your Andrew Bailey take was spot on. He's worked miracles with the Red Sox pitching staff. Houck threw a Maddox? They had the best team ERA for like two months to start the season? Even though it's slipped a bit, its still solid for a team that doesn't have an ace. They're in the wild card race in a year that was supposed to be a rebuilding year. All thanks to Andrew Bailey

Lot more important things for the Angels than Mike Trout staying healthy. Their history shows that. They have a plethora of young guys who *could* be very good, and other guys looking for bounce backs or to stay healthy. You could argue if they have enough of those breakouts/bounce backs they could do it even without Trout. O'Hoppe, Neto, Schanuel, Moniak, Ward, Rendon, Adell, Silseth, Joyce, Soriano, Bachman, Detmers, Sandoval, Anderson, Canning. All these guys either have significant promise, regressed heavily in 2023, or missed significant time. Hell you could even add Miguel Sano as a comeback candidate. There's so much potential among Angels players, their season rides on how much of it turns out.
@peskytalk10 ай бұрын

Good pitching development team with more depth than many realize and a good group of young hitters set to debut sometime in 2024. The Braves thoughts are fair. Be ready to go all out and be at your sharpest in the postseason. Snitker is a concern though because this guy is worried about a team 15 games behind us imposing their will, it should be the other way around. Not for nothing but Philly ran on Murphy a ton and forced errors but we respected JT too much. Atlanta has the talent but they lacked the mentality of a champion. Strider, Sale, Matzek, and Kelenic all have the right mentality that can galvanize the rest.

I know it's not necessarily cool to say but I think there might really be an issue with the new playoff format. It may have just been 2 seasons butt it really seems obvious the first round bye for the best teams hurts more than it helps. The Braves have been the best team over the last 2 seasons and lost in the NLDS both times (as have the Dodgers) and every other 1st round bye team not named the Astros. People try to use the Astros somewhat success in the NLDS during that time as proof against but to me I think the Astros pulling through had far less to do with being able to handle the layoff and more to do with just the subpar teams they have gotten to play. The Braves need to really figure out the cheat code to get through it this year because if things go like they are looking like they will with the GM and Max Fried it's only gonna be harder. After locking down the best line up in baseball for years to come it makes no sense why he would then handcuff the team by letting their ace walk. Reportedly he was willing to pay Aaron Nola similar to what he got in Philly, so why in the hell would he not do the same for Fried who is on a whole other level than Nola? He is the best starting lefty in baseball and has been elite since 2020. It's time for the Braves to pay a veteran star because losing him would actually hurt the Braves far more than Swanson and even Freddie leaving. Great starting pitchers are hard to come by and he is one of the best. There is no way in my mind he signs him if he lets it get to free agency because other teams will certainly be chomping at the bit. This is the best lineup in baseball and easily one of the best ever so heres to hoping they don't squander it by losing their #1 ace.

@peskytalk O'Hoppe is going to be a Top 3 offensive catcher in the league. Genuinely will be a superstar at his position. Neto too when he hits 20-25 bombs this year. Not too worried about Trout at this point
@noahmcdaniel492010 ай бұрын
@peskytalk Rays seem to consistently succeed without a true super star. Also don't sleep on the trio of O'Hoppe, Neto and Schanuel. Lot of people around the league really believe in their talent. Schanuel has the potential to be a generational talent with his bat to ball skills and plate discipline, and he slugged in college so it's in there. And to have a good defensive shortstop and catcher who can slug is huge.
