The insistence that ADHD is more prevalent in boys is hotly contested because of the way girls and women with ADHD interact with and respond to their environments (this is, of course, due to the way women and girls are socialized). We are far more likely to be inattentive rather than show physical hyperactivity. It affects our central nervous system differently. I was diagnosed at 6 only because the anxiety as a result of the shame I was made to feel forced me to develop vocal tics that took years to suppress.

I agree all my life I've been made to feel I'm a failure and a bad person for not paying attention and getting distracted. And that I can do better only if I try more. Which never worked. I need stimulation to be able to focus,I don't have hyper activity either.

I liked the warrior hypothesis. I wouldve made a good warrior at 17. Exercising constantly, no sleep, vigilant mindset. If the world required wrestling people 24/7 it wouldve be easier to deal with at that age lol

Absolutely love the Hunter Gatherer vs Farmer scenario Talking to people I know with ADHD about this environmental mismatch really helps them understand the 'why' and to feel better about themselves.

I can pay attention somewhat but this information feels a little dated that's why I'm loosing interest. They are talking about ADHD hyperacvtivity when that is not a reliable symptom as ADHD can look different as the brains develop from children to adults. And they said that it is found more in boys where it is known knowledge that ADHD in girls doesn't get diagnosed properly.

I wonder what it must be like having ADHD and really wanting to research and learn about the topic to gain a better insight on your condition…

I do hope that his lady has changed her mind about the ratio of girls and boys who have ADHD, and how they show it.
