Ich glaube viele Leute, die schön lange Zeit in Berlin gewohnt haben, genießen noch relativ günstige Mietpreise. Meiner Erfahrung nach ist es sehr schwierig eine ganze Wohnung (1- oder 2-Zimmer) mit Mietpreis 1000 € zu finden, besonders für Ausländer!! Viele meiner ausländische Kollegen finden auch ziemlich schwer. Man sagt dass es schwieriger ist, in Berlin eine Wohnung zu finde als einen Job zu bekommen..

Wenn man nicht so gut Deutsch spricht es ist schwieriger ein Zimmer oder eine Wohnung zu finden. Natürlich gibt es manchmal auch Diskriminierung (manchmal auch positiv). Es ist eigentlich ziemlich schwierig auszuwählen wenn so viele Leute bewerben. Für Mietwohnung Besichtigung wenn es öffnen für Publikum ist, sieht es wie ein Konzert aus. (100 Leute oder so). Natürlich wenn man nicht in die Zentrale Bezirke wohnen möchte, ist es ganz anders.

Schal mal an die Kommentar von maily. -als Vermieter man bekommt viel zu viel Bewerbungen und natürlich bevorzugt man erst die Deutschen und dann die EU Bürger, weil es einfacher ist (na klar manchmal auch wegen Diskriminierung). ÜBRIGENS, vielen Vermieter verlangen eine langfristige Aufenthaltserlaubnis zu sehen, aber die bekommt man nur wenn man eine langfristige Wohnung in Deutschland hat 😂😂 Also, Dilemma

Ja, also es kommt so: wenn jemand will billige Mitarbeiter, muss über der Wohnung auch sorgen.. Es gibt so viele Arbeit im Deutschland, den ein deutscher nicht erledigt- wegen Lohn- zbs es gibt viele Betriebe wo menge die Ausländer arbeiten . Wir haben zbs bei Küllmann gearbeietet, wo ein Ausländer bekommt 1000 Euro netto/Monat, und hat kaum mit deutschen Arbeitnehmer getroffen, aber sie hatten für gleiche Arbeit 3000 Euro netto/ Monat. Kein Problem.. man muss es irgendwie anzufangen... Aber nach eingene Zeit braucht der Ausländer auch ihre Famlilie nah zu sich selbst, also braucht eine eigene Miete. Denken Sie es nach: wieviele deutsche wäre im Ausland 3 Monat arbeite in einem Betrieb, wo man weniger Lohnt bekommt, als ein Staatsangehöriger zu eine Miete bekommen? Jetzt sieht es so aus: zu eine Miete auszunehmen brauchst du min. 3. Monate Arebitsplatz, mehr tausend Euro für Kaucio, aus deinem Job, wo bekommst du kaum mehr als 1500 netto pro Monat, und den Sprache min. an Niveu A2-B1 zu sprechen .. es geht so nicht . Also Ausländer gehen, Ausländer kommen.. Kaum können wir es schaffen. Ich bin Verkehrsingeneur als Beruf.. DB sucht immerwieder Mitarbeiter, und ich habe mich bei DB sehr oft bewerbt, aber bei DB kann mann nicht als Ausländer in höherer Job zu arbeiten, sie haben mich gegen meine 14 Jahre Erfahrung bei Ungarische Stattsbahn nie zurückgerufen.. und ich kann eigentlich nicht verstehen warum. Mann kann im Deutschland sich selbst nicht vorherschen :/

It is surprising to me how little they know of their finances and what it costs to survive in Berlin. There are several variables, naturally, but the idea that the one gentleman didn't know what he spent on food per month is interesting. I am lucky that I have a decent salary, own my home and don't have credit card debt. When I spend money on things that interest me: travel, parts for my antique car, clothing, meals with friends, etc, I generally don't worry too much about the expense but I am still conscious of what things cost. I can tell you what my mortgage is, utilities (electricity, gas, water, etc.), groceries for the month, etc. and what I put away for savings and what I spend to have fun. I had expected to see a spread sheet with every expenditure and precise accounting, after all this is Germany, but no. It must be nice to live without a budget in mind, it's probably why they live longer than people in the US... LOL

What is the point in following a budget on food/groceries? If you make a decent living, you should just get the highest quality that you can afford, after all the effect of quality food on your cognition and physical health is so gigantic that it should probably be the most important thing, more important than an apartment even.

I lived in a comfortable 2 bedroom apartment from 2017-2020 for the equivalent of €1650. Nothing around here is less than €1000 unless you want roommates. To live comfortably with an apartment like I had by myself I would need to make around €5550 a month. The landlords won't usually rent to you unless the rent is only 30% of your income. So it's best to find a partner and both work but don't plan on having kids. When I first moved here in 2006 for university I had my own place with one bedroom for €360. Things have changed a lot.

It's all relative dependent on income. Vancouver where we are, rent is upwards of $1000 pm for a small apartment or bedsit. Food is very expensive, cheese unaffordable. Utilities and running a car are approaching breakpoint. Look for a salary upward of $100K to live comfortably.

Germany was quite expensive when I lived there in 2007-2008 as a student. Main expenditures were from residence around 220 Euros/health insurance 57 Euros per month, and I used to eat quite a heavy meal with milk those days costing 200 Euros. But I rarely buy dresses and shoes because of high prices, and used which I brought from my country, but I cut hair regularly compared to other students 🤣 who make head shave for each others. So, I might have spent 400-500 Euros a month.

As a German living in South Korea actually. The capital here, which is Seoul, is much cheaper than the capital in Germany Berlin. Although it is much more advanced and modern. Like the internet, wifi and public transport. Especially the housing prices are much cheaper. I could never afford the same apartment that I have in Seoul, in Berlin. In Seoul I pay about 400 Euro for my own apartment in the city, in Berlin you merely get a "WG-Zimmer" for that. Also eating out is super cheap here, and as a lazy cooker myself, that is a huge plus. What is cheaper in Germany in general, are groceries like veggies and fruits.

I’m South Korean lived in Germany for 10years, I live in Paris now. For me Korea was really expensive when I first came to Germany. Even Korean people we were comparing German supermarkets to Korean supermarkets because it’s much much cheaper. Anyways That was 2012-13, and for 10years I saw extreme inflation and economic gross happening in Berlin, which I think it’s very good for certain people. But in general for most of people who gets under 5000 euro per month (after tax) the situation in Berlin gets worse and worse, most of the people including us wasn’t saving enough money after all vacations, phone utilities internet bills, there’s almost nothing left. And nebenkosten end of year also reason why it’s so tough. After you pay massive amount of tax. First time when I came to Germany I thought it’s really cheap although energy costs so much, and now food, restaurants, and energy prices are all very expensive. We made quiet enough money to live in Berlin but we decided to come to Paris because rent here is similar to Berlin but paris is more dynamic, and mostly my husband is from Paris. I feel like now I am half German since I lived there for so long, I am truly sad Berlin losing its attraction. All the reason why I loved Berlin (not only price of living) is going away 😢

I live in Berlin and eat out a lot, and together with the rent, I pay only around 1500 EUR per month. And if you want to travel once every few months, add some extra to this amount. So I would say with 1700 Netto, one can live a comfortable life in Berlin.

Ansprüche spielen große Rolle. Wenn man nichts kaufen möchte oder nie ins Restaurant gehen möchte, kann man nur mit 1000 Euro uberleben. Aber wenn man ein Kind, das jeder Monat ein Adidas Trikot anhaben möchte, würde 1000 Euro nicht reichen. Ich muss es erwähnen, dass die Kosten für Leben in Deutschland in letzten Monaten um ungrfähr 10 prozent gestiegen sind. Darüber hinaus gibt man für das Auto (Versicherung, Steuer, Benzin) mehr als 200 Euro jeden Monat aus. Eigentlich muss ich verraten, dass ich wundert bin, wenn ich es gehört habe, dass Berlin eine günstige Stadt ist. Ich wohne in einem Dorf in NRW und hier ist viel tuerer als Berlin. Viele Grüße.

Das ist unrealistisch. Nur für eine kleine Wohnung die Kaltmiete ist um 1000 euro und dann es sind die Nebenkosten. Das Essen ist etwa 400, wenn man selbst kocht. So minimum 1800 euro ohne Vergnügen, Spaß, Hobbies, Sport usw

@@Freaky0Nina was meinst du damit? Ich weiß was ich sage. Ich kaufe jeden zwei Tage ein, die meisten an REWE und manchmal an Lidl. Ich bin Italiener und zwar esse gut und gesundlich. Ich gebe durchschnittlich 100 Euro pro Woche aus. Alles ist teuer als in Italien. Ein beutel Pasta Barilla kostet 1.80 und integrale 2.20. Wenn ich Fisch essen möchte, gehe ich an lidl, und eine kleine Dorade kostet 6 oder 7 Euro. Proteine oder auf deutsch Eiweiß kosten eine Menge, sowohl tierische als auch pflanzliche. Auf keinen Fall esse ich Wurst und Ketchup 🤭

Jetzt vielleicht! Aber Du vergisst, dass viele Leute schon immer oder schon lange in Berlin leben. Es dreht sich nicht alles nur um Leute, die neu in Berlin sind. Ich selbst zahle 300 Euro warm für eine 30qm-Wohnung im Herzen vom Prenzlauer Berg. Da sind 1000 Euro sehr wohl realistisch, sogar weniger. Damit kann ich auch außer Haus essen, nicht mehrmals die Woche, aber durchaus mehrmals im Monat. Wenn ich ordentlich kochen will, bin ich mindestens 10 Euro los. Für das Geld gibt es zB. auch gute Asiaten in Berlin.

Für Singles würde ich es so rechnen. 240€ Essen/Haushaltsartikel wie Toilettenpapier und so (ohne Restaurant, etc.) 700€ Miete/Strom (Warmmiete) 250€ persönliche Bedürfnisse (Handy, Internet, Friseur, Kleidung, etc.) 100€ Transport VBB Um ein halbwegs anständiges Leben zu führen. Urlaub und Kultur oben drauf. Also €1500 sollten es schon sein. Ist natürlich auch abhängig, wie es im Video auch genannt worden ist, vom Viertel und persönlichen Präferenzen abhängig. I agree about the fact that it depends on how much rent you pay. People who pay old rents like ~300-400 Euros can live comfortably with 1000. For people who have to pay the high rent like 800-1200 Euros/month, you would need at least 1500-2000 Euros for a comfortable life. Of course for those with family, it will be higher.

@@danilomodus5651 If you make 1000/month and your rent is 400 then you can budget 100 for utilities, 250 for groceries, 50 for transport (get monthly ticket instead of getting penalties for schwarzfahren...), and then you still have 200 for going out/beers/clothing/savings/kebabs lol. But I wouldn't call it comfortable, it's doable but not a fancy lifestyle..

It might look affordable but don‘t expect high salaries in Berlin. This is different compared to major cities. So it is always relative. That’s also why most of the time Berlin is only seen as an adventurous place for young people. Once you get older and finances and investments get more important you look for something else.

@@sarahcelik3393 If you have a look at Hartz4 ..everybody tells you, it is not ENOUGH TO SURVIVE that is 440 plus miete. so it is about 1000 euros per month. maybee berlin is much cheaper than frankfurt, but here if you have just 1000 euro, you are really, really poor and dont know, were to take money for food, this is why the "Tafeln" are so crowded, that they dont have enough for all the people asking for food there.

The Video is not really reflecting the current prices - they said you need 1000 €/ Month, and once the started calculating, it was much more... 600/700 € Flat, maybe 300 € Food and then you still need maybe clothes and going out, mobilephone and additional fixed expenses..

Die Frage ist sehr einfach gestellt. Die Lebenshaltungskosten sehen anders aus. Miete ( WM + NK ), Strom, Heizung ( z.B. Gas !!! ), Lebensmittel, Fahrkosten ( Bus, Bahn, Auto ), Kleidung u. Schuhe, Telefon, Bücher u.a., Rücklagen für Notfälle, Versicherungen, GEZ, Rücklage für den Urlaub. Also braucht man allein für die normale Versorgung schon genügend Geld. Wenn man einen Partner hat und Kinder, sind die Ausgaben noch höher. Ich habe viele Jahre im Sozialamt gearbeitet und weiß, wie schwer es ist mit dem Geld auszukommen, was der Staat an Hilfen gibt ( zum Glück gibt es diese ). Jetzt kommt noch die Teuerungsrate hinzu bei Lebensmitteln und Benzin. Also muss man einen gut bezahlten Job haben oder noch einen Nebenverdienst dazu oder eine gut situierte Familie. Die Geldsummen, die die Befragten nennen, sind unrealistisch. Also ergibt sich durch die Fragestellung kein echtes Bild für Menschen, die zu uns nach Deutschland kommen.

Hello from America! Yes, it can be much more expensive over here depending on where you live (and unless you live in a small, inexpensive town, it probably is going to be more expensive than Berlin). You can make a higher income but that has no indication on your own fiscal responsibilities or unexpected expenses haha. I love how everyone interviewed had to slow down and think a bit about the questions. They did it in a way that showed they were thinking hard not just about their own situation but about how others might be doing too. Very considerate of them!

It's also worth noting that many cities here in the U.S. don't have the public transit that Berlin has, so you have to own a car. And, we pay hundreds of dollars each month for our own health insurance! (Unless you have a job that offers to pay a lot for your healthcare) It was noteworthy that even the students living economically had to stop and think about how much things cost...it's nice that they are comfortable enough to do that.

Rents have been going up like crazy these past 10 years though, Berlin used to be very affordable in the 90s and 2000s but now everyone wants to move there both from overseas or across Germany so it's one of the most expensive cities in Germany now. Other than that, eating out, going clubbing, clothes, bars etc. it is not cheap but it also depends which area you live in. Mitte is most expensive of course, outer city areas are often much cheaper.

Ich erzähle meine Erfahrung von *Expo 2020 Dubai(zurzeit wohne ich immernoch hier): Als ich Expo 2020 Herz war,habe ich eine sehr sehr sehr kleine Zimmer gemietet (eigentlich,das ist keine normale Wohnung😁das ist nur ein Etagenbett, zwei Schritte von dem - und du wirst die Wand treffen. Das heißt hier "Partition". Das hat mich 700 AED oder 190 $ im Monat gekostet. Fürs Essen hab ich 700-800AED oder 190-200$ pro Monat ausgegeben. Transportmittel ist 350 AED ungefähr 100$ U-Bahn/Bus/Straßenbahn. Natürlich das kommt drauf an wie du wohnen möchtest,was für ne Leute um Sie herum sind. Ich musste Geld sparen 😅ja.. ehrlich und offen gesagt das war so irritiert und ich ging in some Fancy restaurant zu essen 🤣also das muss man auch merken,dass ich gerne Volleyball spiele... Und also das ist eine ganz andere Geschichte:) also kurz gesagt - das kommt drauf an welches Ziel euch antreibt. Das Leben hier in Dubai ist super expensive,aber das ist in deinen Händen ein günstiges zu finden,es ist möglich, glauben mir. YOLO oder JOLO oder deine Version des Lebens. Tell me if you can find better price if you are an expat with a dog , no friends in Berlin and no SHUFA history :) 20 EUR per month for TV tax, 10 EUR per month dog tax, 80 EUR electricity, about 60 EUR internet and mobile. 80 EUR BVG card, insurances about 30 EUR (yes, you cannot rent a flat without some of them sometimes and a dog liability insurance is mandatory). Rent hits the most. People who rented the same apartment 5-6 years ago pay a half.

You should speak with professional teachers. They know how to handle this, they have experience. You can prepare for example if you decide in advance what topic you would like to cover. Then you can brainstorm words related to the topic, maybe the teacher can give you collection of questions (via email or chat, for example), so you can prepare the answers in advance too. Therefore, find a qualified teacher. I think Italki is a renowned platform, no amateurs there. Besides, first lessons are often gratis too, so you can try out whether you like it or not.

Aufgrund der Art, die manche Leute, die ich in Deutschland getroffen habe, über Berlin sprechen, hätte ich mit nem niedrigeren Betrag gerechnet, obwohl ich Berlin sehr schön finde. Der Betrag, den die Leute in diesem Video im Durchschnitt brauchen, scheint eigentlich ein bisschen mehr als was ich im Monat in Hamburg ausgebe. Allerdings liegt das wahrscheinlich daran, dass ich Student bin und außerdem glaube ich, dass der Durchschnittsgeldausgabe in Hamburg eher höher ist als in Berlin, weil es viele riesige Häuser an der Alster in Hamburg gibt. Berlin wohnen sehr viele Personen, die mehr oder weniger freilich in Wohngemeinschaften wohnen oder sehr alte Mietverträge mit niedrigen Mieten haben. Außerdem ist es für viele auch eher ein Erlebnis dort zu wohnen, als dass man versucht die Ausgaben niedrig zu halten. Wenn man die Gehälter-Mieten-Relation außer acht lässt, ist Berlin allerdings schon sehr günstig.

The problem with Berlin is that it used to be a cheap city rentwise compared to other European metropoles and probably still somewhat is. But on the other hand Berlin never was a strong economic landscape. The majority of the industry left decades ago. You find a little bit of it here and there but well paying jobs are scarce. There are, of course, some of these jobs at the top, but they are not available on a broad scale, as they are in Munich, the Rhine or the Main area, for example. So rents are rising but not the salaries. If you want to experience the Berlin vibe you have to accept this. I know a lot of people who moved away after a couple of years because of this

​@@BloatwareInc I didn't provide any transportation costs because I'm either biking or using my e-scooter. if you will need to commute include 86e (currently it's 29 until the end of the year with an abo) monthly card for Berlin AB (which will get you basically everywhere within the city. There's a zone C ticket which covers part of Brandenburg e.g. getting to Berlin Brandenburg airport but most Berliners don't need it and are just getting extension tickets if required). Car is not really required if you're living in the city.

Ich wohne in Madrid und ich würde sagen, dass die durschschnittliche Miete teurer hier als in Berlin ist. Ich war überrascht, dass das Essen in Berlin so billig ist. Ich brauche für mich allein, etwa 250 € für die Lebensmittel und den Rest des Notwendigen wie Waschmittel, Toilettenpaper, etc. Dazu kommen noch die Strommversorgung, Heizung, Wasserversorgung etc. Zussamenfassend, wenn man allein in Madrid in einer kleiner Wohnung / Appartment leben will, muss man wenigstens mit 1200 netto pro Monat rechnen.

@@EasyGerman Thank you, Easy German for your sympathy. It's really difficult times. If you don't know let me inform you that we have extremely high electric bills. For example a family it's possible to be charged with the amount of 500€ or more for electric power every 2 months. I know a family which must pay 1045€ for electric power. That's insane. Also prices for groceries are in the same level with Germany or bit more expensive. Gasoline, diesel is similar to Germany above 2€ per liter. Only rental is cheaper. A Bit not that much. For a moderate apartment with one bedroom which builded 40 years ago you need to pay like 600€ in Center of Athens. In suburbs are even more expensive. Clothes are same prices. Especially in worldwide brands like H&M, Zara etc.. Public transportation is cheaper. Food in Restaurants is cheaper as well. Activities like gym or any kind of sport which need to pay for subscription fee are also cheaper. But in general when you get paid around 700€ per month, no it's not good at all.

Yeah its expensive as hell...and just because of crazy price of apartments. If you want to buy 2 bedroom apartment (normal one with balcony and elevator) expect to pay at least 500.000 euros and that's for apartments that are 10 km from city center. That's crazy and almost as expensive as Paris and London(and in those cities you can earn way more money). In London/Tottenham next to the subway station brand new 2 bedroom apartment can be found for 550-600k pounds easily...about the same price is in Köpenick for new apartment and Köpenick is 17 km from center of Berlin. In Paris apartments in Puteaux/Colombes are cheaper that in Köpenick or Pankow. It's always better to have expensive everything but cheap apartments then opposite. Shanghai is cheap as fuc. but rent and apartment price is crazy and life there is hell for those ones who want to have their own place...same thing is happening in Berlin

Wenn Sie in der Nähe von Mitte wohnen könnte die Wohnung ziemlich kostspielig werden. In Steglitz schätze ich mal um die 1600-2000€ für die Wohnung monatlich. Lebensmittel liegen bestimmt bei um die 700€, wenn Sie ab und an mal essen gehen 200€ im Monat. Plus Versicherung, Kleidungen und Transport etc. würde ich ohne Auto von ca. 3600€ im Monat ausgehen die sie brauchen. Nur meine Schätzung. Die Miete ist natürlich der größte Faktor

public transport brings you towards center quickly from almost any outskirt. No car needed if you are close enough to a station. My picks would be something in Spandau (which is quite far away, but rather affordable) or some spots in Pankow (quite green and close to nice spots). Köpenick is also really nice.

Das ist eine gute Frage, aber das ist ein bisschen schwierig zum Antworten. Ich lebe in einer anderen Stadt nicht Berlin, deswegen glaube ich, die Menschen in Berlin normalerweise fast 1000€ pro Monat zu kosten.

Bei uns in Shanghai braucht mann ungefähr 200-300 Euro zum Essen und 1000 Euro für die Miete. Jetzt studiere ich in Nanjing, wo man insgesamt rund 1000 Euro braucht.
