How eyewitnesses get it wrong in criminal cases

Why courts would want to admit eyewitness testimonies, despite how unreliable they are, is just BEYOND me.

Because closing cases & having high numbers of successful prosecutionsis the ideal outcome for the state unfortunately at least it is in New York state.
