In order to benefit from the aerodynamics of driving behind a truck or a larger vehicle, you would have to be within 12 feet of the back of that vehicle for the air to go around you. The air comes off of the sides of the rigs, then criss crosses behind the rigs about 12 feet back. That's why when you tailgate a vehicle, you feel that left/right jarring motion. I was truck driving instructor for several years and was also s part of the safety department. I loved studies like this.
@RidingandWrenchingАй бұрын
@@MissJenni_ISO I don't like riding close to semis. During this video I was more than 12 feet behind it. Maybe there was another reason I was more "fuel efficient " at the higher speed.
@MissJenni_ISOАй бұрын
@RidingandWrenching could be. I just know that by the studies we did during accident investigations, following distance played a huge role in rear end collisions. Not saying that you were too close, but the excuses given by others were that they were trying to ride in the "draft" of the larger vehicle for better fuel mileage.

Nice compact trailer… what brand/model is that? And u said u can put the ramps(which seems great to use cuz it’s not just one skinny ramp to use but seems more substantial and confident inspiring to use) onto the trailer? Instead of in ur vehicle? Can you demonstrate that?

Great video. Did you have to install a charging station at your home for your car? How does that work?
@RidingandWrenchingАй бұрын
@@MissJenni_ISO yes, I have a dryer plug in the garage. I use that to charge my car. I never use the public charging stations....it's not necessary. The cost to drive 100 miles per day is about $15 per week. Insurance is more expensive though

You favored the Tesla in all your comments it was like watching CNN. What would it cost to charge all the way up and cost. Kinda skipped over driving 20mph than the gas car trip. Your usually dead on everything in your videos. I was surprised
@RidingandWrenchingАй бұрын
I didn't think about discussing the cost. My goal was range, not cost. Without towing, the cost is equivalent to driving a gas car that gets 100mpg (using a home charger) Public superchargers are the equivalent of a gas car that gets 25-30 mpg (so it isn't much cheaper than gas). Towing reduces efficiency about 30 -40%
@RidingandWrenchingАй бұрын
I guess I favored the Tesla because I'm a big fan. I plan to do a video (on my EV channel) discussing the things I love and hate about owning an EV. The hate list is relatively short: towing range, no Apple CarPlay, Tesla have a minimalist interior (I like buttons and switches).
