I used Mobil 1 in my Vmax with no issues. Switched over to Rotella T6 and still no issues and found that the bike shifted better. Rotella was half the price of Mobile 1 so I got a cost savings as a bonus. On my Harleys I use Redline for all three holes. 20-50 in the engine, Extreme sheer for the trans and their primary fluid. The motor is quieter and the trans shifts into neutral a lot easier. I buy the Redline box with all three fluids and the correct filter from Amazon.

When I was in the army stationed at Ft. Stewart in the mid 80s we were near the ocean. There was a rumor that if you got sunburnt and went to sick call you could get an article 15. Fortunately my buddies and I never found out if it was true or not. One thing I do to keep cool is that I wear a thing long-sleeved shirt over a tshirt. When at a fuel stop I soak the long-sleeved shirt in water. Wow does it feel good untill it evaporates. A couple of yrs ago I rode to Death Valley. I soaked my shirt as usual but it was so hot that the shirt would evaporate within ten minutes.

I worked at an H-D dealer. You TOTALLY MADE A MISTAKE. First production year vehicles are riddled with bugs. A man your apparent age should know this. Also, it's something NEW from H-D. History shows most of their new products are OVERPRICED PIECES OF $#!+. If someone GAVE me a BRAND NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON t-shirt cycle, I'd sell it and buy 5 or 6 Japanese bikes. The WHOLE WORLD knows most any other bike is better than new H-D'S. Just sayin'...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My 18 Road Glide has 97,000 trouble free miles. My 23 CVO does have glitches but runs like a champ. I have full confidence that the software issues will be resolved. Regarding Japanese bikes, I'm old enough to remember who bombed Pearl Harbor.

I ride in the heat with an armored mesh jacket, ventilated Indie Ridge gloves and boots, and usually a neck gaiter to keep the sun off of my neck. When I reach a stop I often take the jacket off and put on a pair of UPF 50+ sun sleeves. I frequently get asked "Aren't you hot in that?" by guys who are sweating their buns off in t-shirts because they have nothing protecting them from the sun.
@RidingandWrenchingКүн бұрын

It’s been 114 degrees here almost daily for the last 3 weeks and we have another 2 months to go. This year I went with a DOT half helmet and the Ergodyne cooling vest. I haven’t been able to find a good mesh jacket so I’ve been squiding it. I too have used the wet the jacket method but it dries out within 10-15 minutes due to the highway riding. What I used to do was use a Camelback type water bladder and suck the cold water out and spit out, down my jacket, continuously wetting it down.

Good video. I wear Icon mesh overpants with shorts underneath them. I find this to be cooler than jeans, but my Klim mesh jacket is an oven to wear even it I am only wearing a tank top underneath the jacket and having it partially unzipped. Any suggestions as last year while returning from Atlanta in July, I got heat exhaustion? After cooling down in Wendy’s, I took the jacket off and wore my hi viz safety vest which has a level 2 back protector. My boots are my work boots-Timberland Pro Boondocks which are waterproof and with the reinforced heel and toe cap they offer better protection than my Harley Davidson boots. Gloves are CE2 rated from Sedici. Full face AGV helmet. I have a cooling vest (soaked in water), but it only lasts for one hour. It is a pain to wear all of this gear, but after watching a long time KZbinR who had an accident at 80 mph all was well except his work boots failed him and cost him his right foot. The gear was destroyed, but it saved his life.
@RidingandWrenchingКүн бұрын
Riding is dangerous, even with gear. The only thing we can do is to mitigate the danger by taking classes, practicing, riding safe, and wearing appropriate gear. I try to avoid riding on extremely hot days, but when I do I try to keep the sun off my skin. I keep the visor open on my helmet (but that increases the risk of being hit by something). Bottom line is that each rider has to decide how much risk is tolerable.
@deanlawson58932 күн бұрын
I live in the northwest. We don’t have many 100 degree days here! But this is still all good information for our version of “hot” days. Sunburn! Oh yea: I rode my brand new Street Glide from Everett, WA to Death Valley this past May. On my way back my right wrist was painful and red. It took me awhile to figure it out: I wear a watch on my left wrist, but the small area of exposed skin between my mesh glove and mesh riding jacket on my right wrist got sunburned! Put sunscreen on all exposed skin! 😄

Celsius gave great thought to making useful temperature gauge......he came up with 0 water freezes, 100 water boiles Kelvin thought he could do better.....0 is absolute zero and then increments are same as Celsius This guy Fahrenheit came along and said he could make a much more useful scale.........and he did, do you know what the parameters are that define his scale? Hint: its NOT to do with water freezing or boiling There's helmets that the chin guard goes all the way to back of your head.....one thing really handy in helmets is built-in sun shield, not as good as good sunglasses but much easier to flip up than remove sunglasses In Army I had couple bouts with heat exhaustion, now too hot is much lower temp than it used to be.....and because I'm old too cold is much higher temp than it used to be 100* I won't be out
