How Far Does Each Club Go For A Mid-Handicap (14) Golfer?

How far does each club go for a mid-handicap golfer? I’m currently a 14 handicap, and these are my carry distances with each club, as measured using a Mevo+ launch monitor.
The numbers are averages taken from 5-10 shots with each club.

Mate, a 14 hc... no way.. your distances are bang on for a 6 hc.. where do you think you're losing those shots? A short 7 years ago when i started i was a 40 hc.. now i am an 8 hc.. chucked a bunch of clubs out of the bag, 3,4, and 5 Iron, added 5W and 7W. Kept 4 hybrid...

Thank you! It's mostly just inconsistency at the moment, particularly with my driver. If I can keep that straight-ish then I usually have a decent round.

Very nice swing for a 14hcp. I'm also a 14 but my swing looks terrible compared to yours. Distance wise we are about the same.

Nice ball striking, I’m a similar level to you, I ditched all irons over 6 and replaced with hybrids a while back so much easier to hit especially out of rough👍

I also bounce between 12-14 with similar yardages. I ditched my 4 and 5i for more forgiving 6i (srixon zx4) and a 5H set to 23*. So I have 2 6i but one is 28* and the other is 25*. But ya when I tested my 4-6i over a dozen shots each they basically all went 175 avg. 😅

Yeah it's really tricky to know how much is club and how much is just inconsistent ball striking as a mid-handicap player.

Ever thought about a 7 wood? Cut 2 shots off on a bad day, a good day, easily 5... great tee club for me as well.. smooth swing 190 to 205 yards in play..

Good video, very interesting. Pay attention to how those numbers stack up out on the course - the weather, lie, wind etc play such a factor so it will help you improve if you don’t assign a specific yardage to always being a specific club. Plus anytime you aren’t sure pay attention to the distance to the back of the green and be inclined to club up when you know there is room.

Would have been nice for this fellow 14 handicapper if you'd listed clubhead speed and (average) smash factor too. I can some flashing by indicating you swing it about 5-7 mph harder than me on the longer sticks. Since the 101's compare pretty well to my i525's on loft, I may be able to compare

Great video , well done. Excellent number , The only club I would be concerned about is the 8 iron , I personally would have that looked at if these are your standard carry yardages, The gapping between the 9 to 8 is a little large and looks like the 8 iron may need to be bent a couple of degrees weaker to fall around the 152-153 range. Other than that you have great gapping on all your clubs and you hit them well.

Awesome ball speeds for being newish to golf -- also interesting that you are so consistent matching a closed clubface with the outside-in path to avoid slicing. Have you ever worked on trying to hit a push draw?

You hit the ball pretty well. Gapping is close at the top of the irons. Not sure if it’s strike on 7-5 or head speed.

You didn’t hit that 5Iron as well. The only problem now is to conquer the bit between the ears and your handicap will slide down fast Happened to me when I was stuck at 19, told my teaching Pro. He said he didn’t understand why as I was hitting the ball well. He said he would play 9 holes with me on the Brabazan at the Belfry. When he turned up I asked if he was giving me two shots a hole, he said no one shot a hole. I bogeyed the first hole and then never dropped a shot, he dropped four. I then knew I could play the game ad my handicap dropped to 1 within 14 Months, shame it’s not there now

Pulling the ball left in a sim isn't that unusual if you're not used to hitting inside. I think it has to do with less body rotation as people can slightly change their swing without knowing it due to hitting at the screen rather than through the ball. I've had plus handicap golfers and a tour pro in my place do exactly the same thing. Once you get used to the sim it's not an issue though. Re driver spin it doesn't look too bad on the shot you showed for that sort of swing speed, but was obviously much higher on the previous shot which was still showing on the screen before you swung. What sort spin do you get as an average?

I need to gather more data, really - it's an anecdotal feeling currently more than anything, just based on ball flight (and also how much distance I tend to lose in the wind).

As other have mentioned, your gapping from 8i up is too tight. You should ideally have a 10 - 12 yard gap between each wedge/iron. It could just be down to taking a single swing with each and not getting great contact with your longer irons.

Yeah the 8 iron was definitely flushed, and the 6/5 hits were not as compelling!
