Abandoned Mines - Rust and Dust

Its almost impossible to determine exactly when a flash flood hit this mine, but it is still holding together quite well in spite of it. The ladders and wooden structures all functioned as if undamaged, and it seemed like each time we hit a new level, there was more below us.

I notice that she likes to enter first. “It’ll be fun they say!” 😁 Doesn’t Home Girl know that “First In” always finds the rats, bats and rattlesnakes?!?! LOL! You guys are so cute. Okay, she is cute and you are cool! 😁 It’s your repartee that makes this channel. You guys are fast becoming my favorite mine explorers! This was your best one yet!

I can't believe the accident she had. You 2 got me into watching abandoned mine explorations. You'll took me to places I can not go. I have been in a wheelchair for years. Since you'll have stopped posting I just can't watch anyone else. I wish her a speedy recovery 🙏. Please give updates when possible. Best team ever!

You’ve got to get ropes down all the way. You never know what you’ll find. Could be something great or just a muddy level.

You're right, it could go either way. We didn't think it was going to be wise trying to rope down through the debris, and we couldn't figure out a way to safely rig it to run through the trap door, so we just scrapped the idea. Someday somebody might find something amazing stowed down there though!

You never know until you go. Might be worth revisiting someday with some heavy duty rope guards.

Wow awesome. Huge mine, 89 ore chutes? Maybe the best set of rails/track , I have seen still in place. What gets me is, like with that huge back fill area...each rock was hand moved. I mean the time and effort? Thank you again for sharing and the risk. Be safe.

The depth of the hole is phenomenal, but to think someone or a few someones had to install all that woodwork all the way down, is just incredible. ✨

Seriously! And then a few dozen people were climbing up and down those ladders every single day for work. What an incredible part of our history.

Haha, we've been asked this question before. It looks like they mostly explore in Death Valley. Maybe someday we'll have to go out there and see if we run into them 👍

WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT MINE EXPLORERS IS WHY THEY DON'T CARRY A HAMMER SOME NAILS AND MAYBE A SOME SORT OF FOLDING SAW SO THEY COULD REINFORCE, FIX, MAKE RUNGS FOR THESE LADDERS

mine explorers are typically museum explorers. They're trying to keep it as they found it for the next set of explorers, that includes all of the wood work these old time miners erected for doing their job.

I’d say they were already carrying enough stuff, what with detectors, rope, water, lights, cameras, batteries, and whatnot!

Pounding a nail into 50yo wood is like pounding a nail into an iron rail. 100yo wood is even harder. The same with cutting wood with a saw.
