I like to give the cigar a clip with a good cutter , usually at about halfway . Then maybe once again . Don’t take too much off . About 1/8 of an inch is good . This removes the bitter tar (and saliva) that builds up . The flavor is vastly improved .

I agree to an extent. When the cigar is burning your fingers and lips or is hard to manage in your grip, it's time to stop. Furthermore, as a matter of etiquette, when you can't place the cigar in the groove of an ashtray...let it go and just get another. 😂

I find that the closer I smoke to the end the stronger the cigar becomes , is that placebo ? Or is there more strength when the cigar is almost done ? Is the tobacco evenly packed throughout ? Or is there more tobacco and nicotine packed near the mouth of the cigar ?

If it's a good stick, I'm smoking it to the nub. Actually have a nub tool that helps me get down to about three quarters of an inch sometimes. The only reason why I stop is because it can get harsh and too hot. At that point, I sit it in the ash tray and let it die.

I smoke it down to where the heat starts getting in the way. If the smoke is too hot, I'm not really tasting anything anyway. If the ember inside is too hot holding it so I can draw on it is problematic. This is usually around 3/4" of an inch left.

My rule of thumb personally is to take that cigar down until the foot is about the size of your thumb(finger tip to last wrinkle of the nearest knuckle). But if the draws are too hot and no longer have a pleasant taste before then, stop at that point. It's done its job and can be retired.

The second part will actually unravel because the tip of the cigar where you cut to smoke from is the only thing keeping the cigar wrapped since it has organic glue. So the part you cut will just unravel when you try to smoke it
