I love the eyes on Clefable's damaged sprite. Clefable really benefits from the expansive movepool that a lot of Gen 1 Normal-types were blessed with; and even though its base stats aren't the best, it manages to stand out over comparable mons because of that. Even in Gen 6 and onward it still gets a lot of the same moves.

I’m not shocked clefable is great, it really has everything going for it and just enough stats to use its tools effectively. The Brock split reminds me of the TAS where they manip metronome to always give the perfect move, but it clefable only really needs it a handful of times lol. As far as evasion moves go, I feel like just removing the double team TM is fine, that’s really more for making impossible nearly impossible runs doable. The fundamental question of solo running is answering the question how does X Pokémon match up into Y game? And arbitrarily removing things a Pokémon learns naturally seems counter to that core idea. Besides, it’s not as overpowered as people think anyway.
@GymLeaderMatt19877 ай бұрын
Yea, it would just be problematic to have available for virtually every run. A TAS would save a lot of time. The Brock split here wasn't particularly fast though. I think getting something like Ice Beam after 6 turns of weaker things approaches like 54% probability at that point and a flat 12~% chance in a vacuum isn't too bad.
@banditrests7 ай бұрын
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 either way it robs Pokémon of some of what makes them distinct. The TAS is like a meme run where they were trying to prove that all sorts of stuff would potentially be almost as fast as the actual TAS but seeing a clefable fire off massive attacks is amazing. 12% is not a terrible rate, considering how many Pokémon need to crit through some situations anyway. Weird that it’s that high though, probably because there’s like 8 damaging water type attacks in gen 1
@GymLeaderMatt19877 ай бұрын
Yea it’s been a bit since I did the actual research but 19 attacks out of 165 moves?
@banditrests7 ай бұрын
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 yeah, assuming it’s probably all the water, grass, ground and ice and maybe be the OHKO moves on geodude that have a good range, it’s 11.5 percent, or a 1 in 8.6 chance of KOing or better vs doing 2-5 damage with double slap if you hit. Works out in your favor to roll the dice. Hell, any powerful special move is still going to do a lot.
