From a pic at the Woodmizer site,the console is on a pedestal,not mounted to the sawmill frame. So the operator can locate it where they want,as long as the cables reach.the cable looks to be pretty long.@@Tuscarora-Twigg

I use to run a 56" circle saw for a veneer mill.I remember in the beginning being so slow and unsure of every move I made. The sawyer that had taught me told me he was the same way when he started. Now I realize that I'm opening expensive veneer grade walnut and cherry logs. It doesnt matter. You take each log 1 at a time and if you're any good you make sure you get all you can out of each log. You only get 1 chance and then its gone. I guess I'm trying to say to take your time learning this new mill and its controls. It can definitely cut faster than you can move, so don't try. Your speed and ease of operation will progressively get quicker and more natural with time. Like in life, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon and you're just getting started. You wouldn't want to tear something up on the mill or run the risk of hurting Jade or yourself. It'll come as already is. Doing a great job----both you ladies😊😊😊

Back in the day when it was just circular blade mills the heart of the tree was considered suitable for beams only since it was full of knots and liable to checking. To make four cuts making four thick slabs was normal. The slabs then went through a gang saw or back on the mill to make quarter sawn boards for flooring or furniture. T&G flooring was only two and a half or three inches wide at that time. The slabs were mostly clear wood and the hearts found a use. Glad your finger healed.

It is wonderful to see the positive effect the LT70 has had thus far. Not a peavey in use, just that is a huge time and energy saver. This tool shows the potential to be congruent with all of your family's respect for the work, acceptance of responsibility/accountability, consident dedication to an enhanced work ethic, while being a good neighbor and wardens of the environment. You folks perform your roles flawlessly, speedy accurate protocols are being learned in a short bit of time. I may have missed the video if posted, what are the current plans to design/bulid an enclosure to cover the work area? Keep on keepin' on.

Slabs should be flipped off the far side of the table into a cradle which can be emptied with the clam when it gets too full. We stacked the good boards at a right angle to table which made for an easy swing from the table to the stack. your second table (extension) should go away and the edger should be at the end of the catch table but just to Jades side of the table. the fitches can then be edged and the boards and edgings be pushed by the next and drop into a cradle to be sorted at the end of the day or every few hours.
@scottsoper
@scottsoper 10 ай бұрын
Clam? typo? I am glad this system works for you! The idea of the edgings dropping into a cradle gave me an idea but my idea won't work for this LT-70 any more than yours will. The second table is needed in my opinion because they have eleven different sizes of lumber for each log length. So we are short space as it is even without the edger up there. Feeding the edger at all puts Jade behind swamping this mill in my opinion. I am not sure that she can get the lumber off on the correct piles in time and sticker when needed. I do believe that modifying the outfeed of the mill with some hooks will allow Emerald to place the flitches close to the end of the roller table so they can just be pushed off into the infeed stack by the edger angled just a bit to go around the building.

I remember tie log grade logs as being good for either fire wood or tie logs. The logs that you are milling are dr definitely a cut above tie log grade. So good for you taking the extra time to get some nice clear hardwood.
