A large reason the US doesn't use high speed railways is just the large distances between major population centers and more importantly, the land between them, as well as what's on that land; namely wilderness and private property. And while we do have things governments can use to build rail such as imminent domain, Americans on the whole are not in favor of their property being infringed upon. Plus air travel already covers the longest stretches, with a good amount of roadways connecting shorter-mid length stretches. Seeing how most Americans own cars, well you kinda get why rails aren't really our thing outside of dense cities. Different geography, different demographic, different attitude, really.

I'm assuming you mean 80 meters per second (288 km/h) because no car is ever driving 80 miles per second. The reason for that is that when you're driving at 288 km/h and holding the coin in your hand, the coin is also moving at 288 km/h and in the same direction. Therefore if you do not change your car's speed and flip the coin, it will remain in the same spot relative to your car because technically, it is being thrown up while also moving forward at 288 km/h. You can test that by braking or accelerating while your coin is in the air. Say your car was at 60 km/h when you threw up the coin, but you accelerate really hard and increase your speed to 80 km/h while the coin is in the air. Then, the coin still only moves forward at 60 km/h, but the car moves at 80 km/h, so the coin is slower and will fly "backwards", meaning against your back window. Similarly, if you brake while throwing the coin, it will fly against your front window. That's why you can stand in a bus driving at 100 km/h; the driver just has to accelerate/brake carefully enough that you don't fall over.

If someone could walk at 3.1 mph (5 km/h) inside a vehicle traveling at the speed of light, that person whould be faster than light (speed of light + 3.1mph = 670616628.8 + 3.1 = 670616631.8mph = 1079252852.7 km/h). It's like when you walk inside a train, if you look trough the window you feel like you're fast as f*ck xP

IronDijex that's not how it works at high speeds like that if you tried walking in a vehicle going just under the speed of light (going the speed of light is impossible) then you wouldn't be able to move like at all

My top sprinting speed is about 17 mph, that's the best I can get out of myself. Jogging I average between 6-7, walking I average 4. I walk pretty fast XD

The fastest Sprint I did was 14.3 mph while I had a pulled quad Fastest speed I've been able to uphold in long distance is 8.1 and held for almost 2 miles (I believe)

Bicycle speed runs are typically done with a lead vehicle to block the wind witch at those speeds is the biggest force holding you back. The fasted speed with no lead vehicle seems to be 81mph on flat pavement

according to my previous tests, i can run at around 15.32 mph for a 100 meter dash. (13.35 seconds) i feel like im decently fast for a 13 year old guy, especially at 5'6"
