@@MoonshineHyeah….kind of an unplanned side effect of the way the game is programmed. Pokemon are immune to same-type status moves. The intent being, a poison type can’t be a poisoned and an electric type can’t be paralyzed. But that doesn’t account for body slam, a normal type, also causing paralysis. As I’m thinking about it, this isn’t that hard a thing to fix, depending on how the chance of a status effect is calculated. I’m imagining a random number between 1 and 100, and then you set ranges where if it falls in a range, it triggers a check of the Pokemon type. If the Pokémon’s type does not equal the equivalent status type or if the move type does not equal the Pokémon’s type (so, electric for paralysis, for example), then the status effect is triggered. Using the OR logic here would have allowed them to run a check that relates to either move type or Pokémon type.

Tentacruel has very high base stats for Generation I including speed, and it gets Barrier and Swords Dance as boosting moves, but its early attacking moves are all resisted by Brock's Pokémon, and it being in the Slow level-up group as opposed to Medium Fast like Kingler or Medium Slow like Poliwrath will slow it down.

I finally watched JRose live on Twitch and he is, odd. I get now why he has the time to do all these challenges, very eccentric person. And thats NOT a bad thing, hes different from anyone else Ive ever come across, and tends to have different opinions from most. He says what pisses most people off but he believes in it and backs it up. Id say theres few more unique people streaming on the planet! Some might not like him but, he's a real one.

Hey Jrose11, how's it going? I really enjoy your Gen 1 videos since that's all I played. It was only recently that I discovered your channel, but I re-watch your videos a lot since I find them comforting in some way. Thanks and keep doing your thing.

7:48 - could we get an analysis of the rankings by level-up group? It would be really interesting to see how that comes out on average. Also who's top for each group.

I think you want Scott for backporting. However, Jrose does come up with whacky, fun challenges often (maybe even a collab video someday).
