How Fast can you Touch PURPLE in Every Mario Game?

There has been a great series going around that involves playing every Mario game. I thought I would jump on this trend and also add the color element to it. So today I am going to see how fast we can touch something Purple in all 20 mainline Mario games.

Due to the way the NES displays it's color palette on different NTSC televisions, one could argue that the sky in Super Mario Bros. is a shade of purple. Then there's this quote from the man himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, taken from an interview in the "Family Computer 1983-1994" book published by The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography: "At that time, you could only have about 3 colors for the blue sky, on the Family Computer. It took me a while to decide which one I would use, and eventually I picked the purplish one. I felt that purple had the depth of nature. I was really into that." So with that in mind, you'd "touch" purple as soon as you walked past the green hill in Level 1-1.

Look at the color of the water in smb 1, that’s arguably a very deep purple. Your definition of purple seems to be dark pink.

Yep. There's a bunch of interesting things with human color vision and processing. There are colors we can perceive, but aren't physically possible, and the difference between orange and brown is mostly context, not light.
